Anti-Cheating Rings: Would It Actually Work?

If you ever worry that your significant other might remove their wedding ring in a tempting situation, TheCheeky might have just the thing to keep you calm. Their patented "anti-cheating rings" will leave an imprint of the words "I'm Married" on the wearer's finger when the ring is removed, making it literally impossible to cheat. Did we say literally impossible? We meant to say slightly more difficult.

The product page reads, "The negative engraving on the inside means that when you are in the 'Club' and an attractive woman... or man comes along to chat, slipping your wedding ring off is not an option ... Made of strengthened Titanium. Life time guarantee, ‘til death and all that." And it'll only cost you $550! But would it actually work?

i m married

.... All they have to do is not wear it.

Also, people, seriously, this IS YOUR SPOUSE. NOT your DOG.

You do not OWN your spouse.

First of all, my hubby's ring and mine both already leave a mark on our fingers. A pale band with a slight indent. But ultimately, if I really thought he was out there cheating, I would not be married to him. And frankly, there are a lot of cold bitches out there who WANT a married man. All I can say is god help the ho if she goes after my hubby.

If you don't trust your mate any more than to get a ring like that, you don't have a good marriage anyway, so just get divorced.
If I were married and my wife gave me a ring like that I would give it back to her and tell her "you keep the ring, I'm going."

Somehow if my spouse finds himself in a "tempting" situation, I doubt the chick he's trying to hook up with is going to pay that much attention to some barely noticeable imprint on his ring finger. Heck, with the way things are these days, I doubt many people would care/object if the guy (or girl) was still wearing their wedding ring :/

The same way a lock keeps a criminal out. If they want it bad enough they'll find a way, but the lock slows them down. Same principle here. Why not get the ring tattooed on instead then it just won't come off...

People who decide to cheat on their spouse will do so regardless of their wedding ring! some people who don't want a long term relationship will actually look for people who have wedding rings on, others just don't care. I don't see where this would matter.

It just would not work... first off, people really don't care that you're married if they just want to hook up, and secondly, it would be easy to hide the imprint.

I'd wear one. Not that I'm worried I'd ever cheat but... still a good idea, I guess.

lame marketing scheme. cheaters are cheaters, even if they're married, they will find a way to cheat.

I never been married, or have been branded in any sense of the word.

Some would say it's cheaper than a divorce. Wouldn't the ring mark itself without the negative engraving be an obvious dead giveaway?

Marriage is outdated when it's a master/slave/chattel relationship, Marriage seems to be overrated, expensive on both ends and it's like a clique in itself, separating those from the single people, who are treated like they have the plague in my opinion.

Just another way to make a buck, too.

For one thing, women are MORE likely to approach men with wedding rings on, so the very premise behind it is a moot point.

    stupid idea
If you know there is a chance of cheating and you nee this ring why get married?
    AND
Many like the idea that they are married so they don't have to worry about a commitment, just fun or the challenge

This is especially for those of us who believe in Biblical marriage as a reason not to expand the definition to include same-gender couples. If you do not put faith in God, yourself, and your spouse, as Biblical marriage expects you to, these stupid rings aren't going to help you any more anyway! Do not put faith in man-made objects, but rather in He who created you.

What does same-sex marriage have to do with straight married people cheating on each other?

No, I read the whole thing. I just don't see the correlation between gay people getting married and straight people cheating on their spouses.

Then explain that to the pro-GM crowd who love to use that as a reason to validate the whole "same-sex marriage" argument.
  • Psyblade dave.urbik 2012/07/02 22:29:08

The argument that same sex couples getting married has no effect on heterosexual marriage?

    They're right.
  • dave.urbik Psyblade 2012/07/04 15:47:50
    dave.urbik
In legal terms, no, it would have no effect at all. In religious terms that may be a different story.
  • Psyblade dave.urbik 2012/07/04 16:04:19
    Psyblade
First, I'm glad you're able to tell the difference between legal and religious marriage.

However, churches can't be forced to marry anybody so it really wouldn't have an effect on peoples' religion. If a gay couple is married in a church, then it's a church that already accepts homosexuals.

There are also religions that don't have a problem with homosexuality, so gays getting married wouldn't have any effect on their religion.

  • dave.urbik addie 2012/07/04 15:47:08
    dave.urbik
My point is that when people truly believe in Christ, and put faith in his teachings and exercise the self-control that he taught us to use, then no, they don't. But to those who only use the Bible as something to thump other people over the head with, rather than a personal guide to daily life, yes, they still will. Did you get THAT?

If you have to "imprint" on your spouse to ensure their fidelity, then why did you marry the person in the first place?

i dont think it would work in some ways its a good idea and i would surly wear one as i have no intrest in cheating but it would not work anyway for multiple reasons as said previosly there is always that one person who is prepaerd to sleep with a married person also said previosly its not a dog its a person also the person could always convince the person that they devorced there spose as there was no trust in the relationship but on the ring side of things its the ingraveing that leaves the mark so all you would have to do is fill the ingraveing with some glue or another substance that would fill it in and bobs your uncle no mark on your finger when you take it of but definatly a good idea wrong place.

a person should want to not cheat not because they are married or because its moraly wrong but becase you obvisly loved the person when you married them so if there is something wrong you fix it not throw it away so im saying no it wont work.
