Of course she will. The First Family gets an allotment for living expenses--which is approved by Congress--which includes clothing. Anything Ann spends over that amount she will have to pay for herself. My guess is at $990 a pop for a tee shirt, that clothing allotment is going to disappear very quickly.

Who paid for the flight ? Who paid for all the secret service agents, and her servants ? Who paid for her children that were listed as staff

Michelle performed a state visit while in Spain. THAT part was picked up by U.S. taxpayers, and should have been. The rest of the trip that was just a vacation for her and Sasha the Obama's paid for themselves, and their friends paid for themselves. Except the SS protection for Michelle and Sasha, that is paid for by taxpayers wherever they go, even if Michelle just runs down to Target.

Only one Obama child went on that trip, not children (plural).

OK, it is Anne Romney's money and SHE can spend it any way SHE wants.

You have to EQUALLY apply that to BOTH sides.

Ann Romney will get the same expense account for clothing that Michelle has, Ann will be spending YOUR taxpayer money too if she's First Lady.

Wrong. All President's get $50,000/yr in various expense accounts in addition to their $400,000/yr salary. While the president's salary is taxable, the expense accounts are not. Like all expense accounts, what can be charged to them depends on the use of the purchase.

First Ladies get some clothing donated to them by designers, who in turn get the exposure. But if not, a gown for, say, a state dinner can be charged to the expense account because it is for an official state function. An outfit for appearing on a talk show cannot be charged to the expense account, because that is not an official state function, a First Lady would have to buy that outfit herself. The $550 sneakers Michelle wore to the food bank that the right made such a big deal of she paid for herself. Any amounts that are left in the expense accounts at the end of the year are returned to the treasury.

The Obama's are worth over $10MM, Michelle can spend her own money the way she wants, just like Ann.

All First Families get a certain amount of money each year--an amount that is approved by Congress--for expenses, which includes clothing and other personal incidentals. CONGRESS sets this amount, not the First Family. Anything that goes over that allotment the First Family must pay for themselves out of the president's $400,000/year salary or their own personal wealth.

The Obama's are personally worth over $10 million. Nothing close to Ann's $250 million, but $10 MM is enough for Michelle to buy whatever clothing she wants. If Michelle wants to spend her own money on more expensive clothing, it's none of your business either.

Keep in mind that if the Romney's are in the White House, Mitt will get that $400,000/year salary and Ann will get that clothing expense account, the same amount that Michelle gets. Ann will STILL be spending YOUR taxpayer money on those God-awful fish or bird t-shirts at $990/pop, at least until she taps out the expense account.

Enjoy that thought.

But they DON'T. WE had to pay for her airfare, her secret service, her meals, and ALL travel related expenses except the actual hotel rooms for her friends.

That's not all true. We pay for SS protection every day, no matter where the First Family is. That's part of the Presidential benefits package.

The taxpayers paid for Air Force One to and from Spain because the First Family must ALWAYS use AF1; they are prohibited from using commercial airliners. Part of the trip was an official state visit, she met with the country's King and Queen. Those days were paid for by the taxpayers.

But once Michelle and her friends were officially on vacation, they paid for it all themselves, their own hotel, meals, entertainment, everything EXCEPT SS protection. The taxpayers always pay for that, whether the First Lady is in Spain or at Target. And yes, the taxpayer pays for the hotels and meals of those SS agents when they travel with the First Family.

Judicial Watch sued to get the expense reports of the trip and made them public, that's where the $467,000 taxpayer cost came from. They did not find anything that was improper, nothing was put on the taxpayer dime that should not have been.

The Obama's are worth over $10 MM personally; Michelle could certainly afford to spend her money that way if she wanted to.
