The blog-o-sphere is still chirping about the bird shirt Ann Romney wore on CBS' "This Morning" on Wednesday, and the fact that it was hideously ugly wasn't even the news. Ann Romney's silk shirt costs $990, Styleite reports.

Critics say wearing the shirt -- part of Reed Krakoff’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection -- was a particularly foolish move for the first lady hopeful, as she and her multi-millionaire husband struggle to relate to average Americans. Meghan McCain, an MSNBC contributor, slammed the shirt on Lawrence O’Donnell’s "The Last Word."

"She needs to be a little more cognizant of the message she’s trying to put out, just given the economic recession that we're in and everything that's going on," McCain said. And this is just when we'd forgotten that Ann drives a "couple" of Cadillacs. Do you think her pricey bird shirt is stylish -- or stupid?

I know designers give or loan their fashions to celebrities to wear, I guess it could happen with MIchelle unless there's some law against the spouses of elected officials accepting freebies? But if that's the case, it's happened with every First Lady.

I looked into it and yes, designers have given Michelle clothing and gowns and even diamond earrings! Apparently there's no problem with this because the First Lady isn't a government employee.

Okay, let me say this....cute shoes have a size limit. They would be cute up until about a size 9, after that they all start looking like boats. Not trying to be ugly, it's just a fact. I saw her inauguration shoes at the Smithsonian and they were huge! I don't know what size she wears but I assure you it's at least a 12.

Not commenting on the style of the shirt, but really? She is the wife of a presidential candidate who might have a shot. If she couldn't empathize with the average American, she should have at least foreseen the controversy.

I mean I wouldn't pay $990 for a shirt but it's her money and she can wear whatever she likes and can afford. I refuse to be like conservatives who slams what Michelle Obama wears or how she looks. I say people should wear what they like and to hell with what others think.

It's their money and that $900 shirt helped pay the designer, the manufacturer, the store's rent and utilities as well as the salesperson's salary, the companies who make the bags, the racks and hangers as well as the companies who do the advertising for the store. Lot's of people get helped by that $900 price tag - including the people who make the actual price tags.

Some people never think beyond the price.

Now you're being silly. You know as well as I do that it's darn near impossible to find clothing actually made in the U.S. Even Levi jeans are made overseas. Everyone in this country supports the Chinese economy in one way or another.

Oh stop it. You know and I know we ALL would rather buy American - but most of those jobs have long gone. I always check labels and can tell you for a fact that it is like an all day treasure hunt to find a mattress pad made in America. Try it sometime.

Yes, this country is hurting but that doesn't mean we stop supporting our local shops and stores because their goods are made overseas, does it? Aren't those Americans that work there to feed their families, keep a roof over their heads and pay their bills?

I thank God there are people out there with the money to spend that helps keep stores open and people employed. In my opinion, instead of knocking her for what she spends, you should be thanking her for redistributing her wealth.

If the rich redistribute their wealth overseas, it doesn't help America much. That's why giving them all the tax breaks in the world will only do so much.

Some "American" businesses are worse offenders than others. Like Walmart, that should be named Chinamart. EVERYTHING there comes from China or some Asian country. I don't shop there on principle.
