The blog-o-sphere is still chirping about the bird shirt Ann Romney wore on CBS' "This Morning" on Wednesday, and the fact that it was hideously ugly wasn't even the news. Ann Romney's silk shirt costs $990, Styleite reports.

Critics say wearing the shirt -- part of Reed Krakoff’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection -- was a particularly foolish move for the first lady hopeful, as she and her multi-millionaire husband struggle to relate to average Americans. Meghan McCain, an MSNBC contributor, slammed the shirt on Lawrence O’Donnell’s "The Last Word."

"She needs to be a little more cognizant of the message she’s trying to put out, just given the economic recession that we're in and everything that's going on," McCain said. And this is just when we'd forgotten that Ann drives a "couple" of Cadillacs. Do you think her pricey bird shirt is stylish -- or stupid?

Megan McCain needs to go back in the closet,because nobody is listening to her that matters. The shirt is absolutely ugly and it's ridiculous to spend that type of money on it.......BUT it seems to me that whenever moochelle spends all that dough on her ugly clothes ,y'all think that is wonderful...why not the same for a Ann?

The candidate and his wife are suppose to be seen as relate-able by the average Americans. That is how you get votes. If he actually becomes president she can walk out looking like lady gaga for all anyone cares. For now they are suppose to be attempting to get votes and spending nearly a thousand dollars (the average Americans entire pay check) on one shirt is not how you do it.

I think it is neither stylish nor stupid. Who gives a flying F**k what it costs. She and Mitt are a rags to riches story, if she so chooses to spend that much of THEIR money on that ugly shirt so be it. Im sure Obama's & Mitt's business suits cost WAY more than that, but you never hear male politicians or male family members of politicians have the price of their clothing critiqued. Get over it.

We foot the bill for White House parties, limos, etc anyway regardless of who from either party is throwing it. There's more important things to discuss other than the costs of potential first ladies clothing.

We do foot the bill, that is the scary part. Right now she only has access to their budget and spends a thousand on a shirt. Imagine what she will do with the trillion dollar a year white house budget. Yes, there are more important things out there. But if they go crazy making small decisions (white house parties, etc.) imagine what they will do with the big decisions.

Ann and Mitt Romney are NOT a rags to riches story. Mitt's dad was CEO of American Motors and ran for president in 1968. Mitt had his Harvard education paid for by his father and he and Ann didn't work as students either, they lived off of the stock Mitt's father gave them. Mitts parents bought he and Ann a car as a wedding gift and helped them buy their first home. Ann has never received a paycheck in her life.

I only chose this as I don't think it was "hideously ugly". I don't think it is bad looking but it sure isn't worth a thousand bucks. Must be nice to have money to burn. I don't think I would ever spend that much for a T shirt or for any shirt for that matter.

I'm not voting for Romney but I wouldn't call Ann Romney fat and stupid. This is a woman who is suffering with Multiple Sclerosis and it must take all her strength to campaign for her husband. She is far from stupid. The Romneys have always been rich and have many luxuries so I don't believe they understand the needs of people who are struggling. Romney, himself, is such a flip-flopper and didn't do very well in Massachusetts. I remember his GOP debates and he showed his out of touch self and his temper. Not what we need in the White House.
