It's something us people came up with so that we the people can compete / enjoy ourselves watching the games. If you wanted wild animals to compete you'd have to force them or trick them somehow.

It's obvious they would defeat us, there are many animals that are better at running, swimming, jumping etc.

As to other animals, if it is really fun for them, some comparisons might be quite inspiring.
Actually, a race between a human, a horse (with rider) and a greyhound had been organised once.

BUT, in most cases, all of the rest of the mammals would fail miserably if they were forced to pass a physics test before they could compete.
(of course more than a few of the present Olympic competitors would have an equally difficult time doing so as well)

Should Animals Compete in the Olympics? Maybe the "Animal Olympcis", & even then, only if they WANT to.
A science paper revealed that if animals were allowed to compete in the Olympics, humans would look much less impressive. Maybe, but humans are better at math. hehehe :-P

Last I checked, horses were animals, were they not? It's not just the riders who are competing, and it's not just the riders who get the medal.

It would be interesting to see some dog competitions added, or to see an official pet Olympics.
