Angelina Jolie's 3-Year-Old Daughter Vivienne Wears Lipstick: Harmless or Horrible?

Angelina Jolie is at it again. Just a week and a half after her Oscar leg controversy, the celebrity mom appears to be letting her 3-year-old daughter Vivienne wear lipstick. Jolie took Vivienne and 5-year-old big sis Shiloh to the movies at El Capitain Theater in Hollywood on Saturday -- and Vivi wore a black and white dress, gold lame pants and (it appears), bright red lipstick.

Shiloh, meanwhile, could easily be mistaken for a boy with her short haircut, T-shirt, long shorts and sneakers. Angelina has said that Shiloh dresses "like a little dude" because that's what she asks for. "She likes tracksuits, she likes (regular) suits. She likes to dress like a boy." Dad Brad Pitt once said to Oprah, "[Shiloh] only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So we've got to call her John."

In 2010, Jolie described Vivi and her brother Knox as "classic boy and girl . . . [Viv] is really female. And he's really a little dude." Perhaps -- but is Jolie catering to her children's preferences a bit too much? And should 3-year-old girls wear lipstick?

WHO CARES. Big deal. It Angelina's choice to let her daughter wear makeup or nawt. SO get over it. its not going to spoil anything. I think that should could also have had a cool-aid..i mean come awn guys can we not be so stalker-ish? Its not our daughter that has red lips, its a child! All kinds of kids love to experiment with make-up it makes them more grown-up and makes them learn about themselves. Dont worry! Be Happy!

I don't see the harm... its not like she is dressing her skimpy or anything .. she probably sees mommy putting it on and wants some.. I put face powder on my 1 year old for that reason

Why does anyone other than Jolie's family and close friends care at all?

If it is okay for the older daughter to dress like a tomboy, it should be okay for the younger one to dress very "girly" -- including a bit of makeup, as long as it's okay for the skin. Lots of three year old girls like makeup, though I suspect her mom helped her with it (the lines are too straight for a tiny hand, I think).

Give the mom a break -- she's gonna have a hard enough time raising somewhat well-adjusted kids in the spotlight without us questioning every aspect of her parenting.

Not the worst thing that can happen but why expose a kid to such rituals at such an early age? I believe some schools don't even allow lip stick on any student. I think the school my daughter went to had strict rules on make up.

Well I didn't make the restrictions the school did. But I prefer my daughter playing soccer than putting up make up. Has paid off well I think.

It is harmless there are tons of stuff she could have done that would be ten times worse. That is just a little girl being a little girl when I was little I got into my moms makeup the way I see this is smart that way she can keep an eye on it and make sure she doesn't hurt herself. I got eyeshadow in my eye the first time I tried by myself when I was her age it hurt.
