At Ugly Models Agency, finding models isn't based on whether you have a pretty face or a tall, thin body. It's actually just the opposite. The unconventional modeling agency books the oddest-looking people they can find.
On its website, the company writes: "We like our women fat and our men geeky. We like the extremely tall and the shockingly small. No one is too abstract for our books! We are Ugly. And we are the leaders in character modeling. With a unique outlook on modeling, our philosophy is simple: 'Any beauty can be airbrushed but we want our look to have true character.'" It's a pretty cool mantra, if you ask us. Do you think this "ugly" modeling agency is refreshing -- or a bit too ridiculous?

When modeling agencies say they use "unconventional models," that's usually code for "pretty but not famous yet." Not at the Ugly Models Agency, though. They've gone full John Waters, by which I mean they use the weirdest-looking people they can find, which is all kinds of refreshing.

I think it would be interesting to see people like Steve Buscemi and Lily Taylor in adverts for underwear, fragrance lines, etc. Not that they are hideous or anything, just different from the people who normally do these kinds of things.
There is an oppressive sameness in advertising these days that I would like to be challenged somehow. You notice it leafing through women's magazines where all the models are like clones of the same prototype with just a little variation.
Standards of "ugly" are highly subjective. Live and let live. :)
And to those who cry 'exploitation' erm, these models CHOSE to be in the magazine. They're just having fun.
I only chose 'Ridiculous' because 'Refreshing' didn't really fit my thoughts. Maybe 'Indifferent.'
