There is a problem in investing in infrastructure if it is GOV based like building roads etc... If private industry builds the roads - they pay their workers and the GOV taxes them, generating more money to pay debt etc.... If GOV workers build the roads it is a double whammy! A system that is already strapped for cash is now paying more employees from an already out of balance system. Yes - I know GOV employees pay taxes becasue I am one, but since I am military I get so tired of hearing the Liberals say "Cut the military to balance the budget, but let's have the GOV build roads and hire thousands of new GOV employees to take their place." Does not make sense to me.

Lots of private construction firms are involved with infrastructure. Lot's more to build the machinery.
You drive on a new road or bridge. An unneeded aircraft carrier or plne is a money pit.

The military is the biggest insurance policy in the USA. True it may seem uneeded, but if the day comes that you do need it - you will be sorry if you do not have it.

Strangely enough I do not dis-agree with everything you have to say.JUST the wealthy paying the Clinton tax rate will NOT get the job done, but making it more feasable for companies to employee Americans in conjunction with going back to the Clinton tax rate would be a step in the right direction.
As for doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result goes, just how many times are people going to fall for the trickle down experiment that has NEVER worked.

OK - but when that does not work - then what. Let's not forget Clinton became a moderate in his second term and compromised with the GOP.

Obama has already spent more in 3.5 years than Clinton did in 8 years.

Also, Obama puts out legislation that he knows the GOP is opposed to before it is ever voted on - then says - Look at those evil GOP people who will not compromise, when he knows the results before the bill is ever introduced.

I am just saying - under those circumstances I do not think money will be a big problem solver.

There is a mentality among too many citizens that the key to life is getting the government to take care of you. We are headed for a depression because too many Americans think they "deserve" more than they can or want to get for themselves.

Like being smart. A true statement by my uncle, "Some people are educated past the point of their intelligence."
I mean - I could work hard digging a hole in my back yard. Or I could do my research and get a degree in an up and coming job field and use my intelligence as well as work hard to make it pay off.
I am prior enlisted in the USAF. I had no chances to become and officer thru the AF - So I got out - lived in a ratty 500$ a month apt with drug dealers and a next door neighbor who was a prostitute.
I worked full time and went to a very difficult nursing school.
Came back as a Officer and now I make 100K a year.
Sorry if being smart as well as working hard offends you and all the people who think I am not worthy because I made something of myself.

And not everyone has connections nor are they good communicators. It all boils down to people who can't or won't become successful just can't stand to see anyone have more than they do. Why can't people just be honest and admit that they can't stand that some people have more money than they ever will and they are just bitter?
  • richwright sash 2012/07/21 13:30:28
    richwright
You seem to have contradicted yourself. everyone who doesn't have the necessary traits BSing, connections. beauty, etc. shouldn't be unduly excluded from being succesful. Those who are on the basis of legal tax evasion, etc. need to pay more. There is something wrong with corporate welfare, there is something wrong with bribing Congress for favorable tax treatment and lax regulations that produce health and safety threats to fellow citizens, there is something wrong with monopolistic practices that thwart free and fair competion making prices much higer than they should be, etc. If you don't think anything is "wrong" and needs to be changed I suggest you have the head in the sand.
  • sash richwright 2012/07/22 03:39:05

Why shouldn't they be excluded? There will always be haves and have-nots. No one should have to pay more simply because they have more. There is something very wrong with the idea that success should be penalized. I suggest you move to Cuba, you would find it to be utopian.

Define corporate welfare. Does that mean investing your money and making dividends off interest??? Just because you do not have money to invest does not make it corporate welfare for other people to do so.

Like Democrats do not do that. One of the biggest bribes to "vote for me" is welfare / food stamps / disability etc... At least Romney was sticking it to other business men and not the tax payers.
  • richwright Squatch 2012/07/20 14:21:11

Wrong - true story here and the family was white. The Dad of the family was a contruction worker. He fell off a roof and broke his back. The Mom was unemployed at the time so the family was going hungry. The daughter actually saved her lunch monet and went hungey for a year so she could buy a prom dress. Even though I wa working for minimum wage at the time I donated money to them thru out Church. Anyway, the Mom finally swallowed her pride and went to the foodstamp office. She was told they did not qualify because they lived in a single wide trailer in half an acre. What a Croc. Can you imagine if this had been a black person - the NAACP would have had 5 lawyers and Jesse Jackson down here in a day talking about how unjust America and the white man is. So please do not try to make it sound like this is a just system that Romney corrunpted all by himself, I personally know better.

AND just curious - America is so uneducated today - I wonder how many Americans are even qualified to work at these jobs. Probably less than 1%.

Come to Indiana and I will show you more rednecks on SSI than you can shake a stick at. What I think richright was trying to say was that while bribing an elected official so I can rip off the resources of a country may be legal because of the votes I bought to get that bill passed, that does not make it right. And the old saw "democrats do it too" is just phony rationalism.

you are racist and it is mostly Pugs that create the laws that deny people their just benefits. And BTW it has always been true that most people with assets are ineligible for welfare. Need to go to a socialistic country in Western Europe to get humane treatment. Otherwise don't get sick or get a large cadre of family and friends to support you. Romney is part of the corrupt system and didn't earn that money through hard work. He stole it off the backs of workers whose jobs got offshored.

So, what are you saying - bring on the GOV housing too so you can qualify for welfare. because you don't own anything. And - Oh Yeah - lets have multiple children from different partners and not get married so I can say that I do not have family - and get more GOV benefits.
I do not care what race you are that is wrong.

Not to get into a penis measuring contest here, but I would be willing to put my IQ and education level against yours anytime.

Each party has examples of crooks, the problem with Democrats is that they tend to re-elect them even when they know about it.

Prime examples would be Mayor Barry of DC and Congressman Rangel of NY, but you will point the finger at someone who made legitimate money in a private business like Romney and call me a stupid racist for bringing this up, when this is a very legitimate point.

Sounds like the movie The Blind Side to me. I remember reading a lot of movie reviews that said what a racist film it was:

Hello, it was based on a true story.

I will never understand why Liberals think that way, rather than face their problems and try to better themselves they try to sweep things under the carpet, or blame someone else for their problems.

I will just say we disagree, that is our right as Americans and I will give you the final post.

    Take Care!

Was that a good thing - The reason GM was going under is that they sold a gas guzzling crappy product that Americans were not buying.
So, instead of letting them go under and some new innovative company buying them out and generating sales for American products, they were given money to make up for their lack of sales.
I know personally because I used to by nothing but American cars. I got tired of putting engines and transmissions in them.
I drive Honda's now and have had no problems for the last 20 years.

There is a systemic fraud in place to overwhelm our social safety nets.Obama has already done in SS and Med.

I am disabled, had to apply for disability for official recognition and get a card for the airports.
The clerk told me I was too rich for SS, I said I dont want money, I want my medical recognized. She ignored me then instructed me to gift my car, bank account etc to my kids, divorce my husband of 23 year and then I'll get a "nice" check. Really? I wish I taped her.

After 2 hours of observation, the 3 dozen or so people in the room applying, perhaps 5 were actually disabled, others loudly talked about the "story" they were going to tell. Whole families sent by their dept of health and human services caseworkers, everyone getting a disability check even the children. The lawyers then prey on those who are denied.
