American Apparel is a classless company run by a sexist pervert who creeps on his young and beautiful models. Basically he uses the lewd ads as an excuse to proposition young women for sex- they are coerced into it. I refuse to purchase anything from this horrible company. Also, the stores refuse to hire employees (even those who work in the backroom of the store!) who don't meet certain physical specifications. Purchasing from thrift stores and local independent boutiques is smarter than shopping at this overpriced sleazefest.
I don't care what tactics this company uses- it is still disgusting to me, therefore I refuse to patronize it.

The ad would be fine if her sweater were covering most of her crotch, otherwise it echoes the rest of the company's tasteless advertisements.

American Apparel, known for its provocative hipster ad campaigns, recently released a new advertisement featuring an "advanced" model... spreading her legs. They've garnered a lot of positive feedback from the media for being equal opportunity, but is this just another controversial marketing ploy?

Marketing Ploy

Equal opportunity in grossing out a mass market with a disgusting pose!
They're crappy clothes.
It's a crappy campaign.
But older people wear crappy clothes too, not just young people. Why the hell shouldn't companies market to everyone? Every one deserves the equal opportunity to rip off & to be ripped off.
Of Course it's Equal Opportunity/Marketing Ploy how ever I think it could have been accomplished in a far more tasteful and meaningful way. AND YES @Art and @Katherine it is creepy on so many different levels.
