American Apparel, known for its provocative hipster ad campaigns, recently released a new advertisement featuring an "advanced" model... spreading her legs. They've garnered a lot of positive feedback from the media for being equal opportunity, but is this just another controversial marketing ploy?

American Apparel is a classless company run by a sexist pervert who creeps on his young and beautiful models. Basically he uses the lewd ads as an excuse to proposition young women for sex- they are coerced into it. I refuse to purchase anything from this horrible company. Also, the stores refuse to hire employees (even those who work in the backroom of the store!) who don't meet certain physical specifications. Purchasing from thrift stores and local independent boutiques is smarter than shopping at this overpriced sleazefest.

I don't care what tactics this company uses- it is still disgusting to me, therefore I refuse to patronize it.

    [...]

The ad would be fine if her sweater were covering most of her crotch, otherwise it echoes the rest of the company's tasteless advertisements.

BOTH. If she wasn't showing her ass or crotch it would hardly be an American Apparel ad! They can't make exceptions for older folks! That's discriminatory!!! :O ;)

That is just disgusting to look at and completely unnecessary. Why would you turn an otherwise attractive older woman into a total joke.

Of course it's a marketing ploy, how else would they get men to want their wives to purchase something like that. Moving those turquoise panties to the side like they have gives the illusion of she's ready for sex.
I bet it gets good results too !

I think it looks gross. A lady never sits that way. What does "Advanced Model" mean anway? She looks like the guys from "White Chicks" when they are in drag.

There's a difference between respect and being coddled. That PC junk has nothing to do with respect anyway, it's just a political tool.

It's ALWAYS a marketing ploy. Might provide a side-benefit to some senior citizen incidentally, but they shell out a lot of money every year to a company that tells them
how to make people look their way.

The simple minds will do whatever it is necessary to sell whatever they are pushing. Most of the time it works on a younger age group, but on a informed or educated older group not so much. I often analyze what they are trying to do and just laugh at their efforts. If a product is good people don't need it shoved down their throat they will buy it.

The new J.C. Penney marketing really stinks. They are going after the young crowd like the Target advertisements. Make it now make it fresh make it stupid.

I think appealing to the baby boomers is a great thing. They happen to be the ones spending money around here. Cater to them a little huH

Exactly, it is how they do it and marketing doesn't know squat about older Americans. Some dumb corporate moron working in the office came up with that piece of stupidity.
