June is LGBT Pride Month, making it the perfect time for American Apparel to debut its first transgender model, former "America’s Next Top Model" contestant Isis King. King, 26, appears in a series of new ads for the provocative clothing chain, wearing Pride Month T-shirts.

"American Apparel is showing bold leadership by being among just a few companies to include transgender people in its national ads," GLAAD President Herndon Graddick said in a statement. "The company’s statement that 'Gay is OK' will reach millions and send an important message in support of equality." King, 26, was the first transgender contestant on "Top Model," too. Do you think American Apparel is making a bold move toward equality by using her in their ads? Or is it just a gimmicky way to get attention?

Nilam 2012/06/15 22:03:12Great+36geez people, when is society gonna grow up. why should anyone care about another persons preference? media has freely exposed sex, drugs, violence, and much much more and noone seems to have a problem with it, why all the fuss over gay? i personal dont enjoy being with someone of the same sex, but if someone else does, how is that even any of my business? i really dont see the big deal.........

Also, if that's your only argument for homosexuality being 'shoved in people's faces', one can just as easily say that heterosexuality is shoved in our faces, or whiteness, or religion, and in much greater amounts than homosexuality is.
Also, no I don't have to. I see nothing wrong with the ad.
Of course it sounds very dumb for experts to hear.
It's like a person who knows nothing about physics giving their very ignorant opinion on gravity for a physics expert and then complaining when the expert says they should do some research first if they don't want to sound dumb.
Just for chatter .... why was Chastity Bono on Dancing w/Stars .... looks, appearance, physique, intellect .... nope, none of them
Psyk + Physics degrees ...... hate to break the news to you, but we went from the Stone Age to the Nuke Age with people who for the most part had no more than an 8th grade education .... made a major portion of Japan toast without a degree .... imagine that.

Besides, God is the basis of all morality, but then I doubt that you believe in Him.
It's still gimmicky!! Why do people dwell on sex....sheez, there is more to life than who you sleep with.....
