Amazon CEO Donates $2.5M for Same-Sex Marriage Yay or Nay?

So much for Ebay, I will only buy from Amazon from now on. ! I am 65 and straight but I believe that both gay and lesbian ppl have equal rights the same as straight folks do.
What I don't understand is why is it always straight men that kill so many in a masacure ?

I don't really care if they get married, but what happens is they take it to the next level and demand that churches change their point of view and marry them in the church. That is what I see is wrong. Plus the insurance companies do not want to cover them as a spouse. So this will open up a whole NEW round of "I wants" from gays. It should be up to the states. I don't understand why Amazon donated this money, they maybe gay themselves. It's their right to donate to whomever they choose to. I don't have a problem with that.

My real answer is yes, they have the right. But I will look elsewhere for my books, movies and CDs from now on; that is my right.

Amazon has as much right to take a stand on an issue as is Chic Filet. Why everyone gets so bent out of shape if that stand does not agree with the majority is where things go wrong.

It is an independent company and can donate to any cause it wants. Quite frankly, the majority does agree with same sex marriage.

Certainly they did. They did not believe that blacks were even human at one point. They also did not believe that women were intelligent enough to be responsible enough to vote or even hold a decent job either.

I support his right to support gay marriage and gays are perfectly within their individual rights to form same sex unions too but gay marriage will never equal marriage between a man and a woman in my mind and I do not support the militant gay communities attacks on the centuries old traditional definition and concept of marriage.

And why is it so freaking hard for gays to start their own traditions and rituals versus trying to hijack someone else's anyway... I can't believe that it could really be that difficult to think up a pretty name for their own form of unions and fight to have those unions recognized as legal equivalents to traditional marriage between a man and a woman.

Same sex marriage has been part of society for centuries. It was common in Roman, Greek and Chinese and other cultures as well. The church also presided over same sex marriages in Europe until the mid 1400's in Europe.

CHurches never has had exclusive rights to marriage and never will. It is people like you who want to change the definition of marrage, not gays.

There was NEVER a definiton of marriage in America until 1996 until DOMAwas passed when Clinton was president and that was done specifically to appease the christian bogots.

Donate to who or what, where does that money go, He donated the money on behalf of Amozon did he check with the shareholders did they have a say.

Absolute kudos to the CEO for being willing to step forward and make this very public donation. Usually, I think people should do things more quietly, but equality is such an important issue that this gesture is phenomenal - and appreciated.

Yay Amazon. Now I know why its my favorite place to shop.

While I'm glad that there's an uplifting moment for equal rights here, it's kind of sad to see that we need to have a debate over two consenting adults of the same sex and their eligibility to marry.
