Meet Alfie Patten, a 13-year-old kid (who looks 8) and he is a father. His girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne. The young couple agreed to not have abortion when little Alfie Patten found out his 15-year-old girlfriend was pregnant. Alfie like any other kid, loves computer games, has no job, and is stressed on how will afford to raise his baby. But the young couple will do anything to support their newborn as they both get support from their parents.

i think their parents should also be held accountable for their actions as well not just them and hes not even the father so idk maybe parents should take more time to talk to their kids instead of being so involved in other things like careers and hobbies then maybe they would have noticed the little things that turn into big problems like this

Look at how young they are. Whose to say that in 5 years or even 1 year that they will be together. This is unbelievable supposedly he hasn't went through puberty I mean the boy didn't even know what financially meant. It's a ridiculous situation but at least they decided to give that baby a life.

This sort of behavior is highly irresponsible in so many ways. Alfie does not even know what the word "financially" means. What sort of society are we raising? While I don't believe that they should be dragged over the coals for this sort of thing, I strongly believe that they should not be encouraged in any way.

The other thing is that teenage girls are having sex and having babies everyday. Why then is it a world-wide interest that this boy is only thirteen? We need to make some noise about teenage girls that are in these situations also, so that society makes it very clear that this is not acceptable, neither for boys nor girls!

I think that it is disgusting that a 12 year old boy whose voice hasn't even broken, should even CONSIDER having sex with a 15 year old. He didn't even understand the meaning of the word 'Financial' and obviously didnt have a clue as to what he was doing.

i mean they're only kids how can they raise a baby and still have a well balanced life , i think it was irresponsible to have a baby that young and even having sex at that age is irresponsible especially since they probably won't think of the consequences of their actions i mean if they are old enough to have sex they should at least know to use rubbers and the pill and I think they did not think it through when they decided not to have an abortion and it is wrong they're dumping all the costs on to their parents!

This is why parents need to have a serious talk about sex and the consequences that happen when you do have sex. And not the "throw in a video and hope that I actually don't have to talk to my kid" method like my mother did! I am not saying that it will stop teen pregnancy, but with all the sex that is bombarded with kids these days it may give kids a clearer picture about sex, not the sex that they see on TV.

It doesn't surprise me...I have seen 12 year old pregnant and giving birth.
As long as they have parents that support them and help them learn through this experience...they have a fighting chance.
If not, the other option would be adoption.
It is sad that the parents didn't step in prior to their sexual encounter to produce this child.
In this particular culture, a 1 year old can get married.(although, I do not agree with this)

At 13 children aren't responsible. They are incapable of it. If responsible means didn't have an abortion then I guess so. But at 13 these kids will have very little to do with raising this child as they are stillchildren themselves. The "responsible" thing to do would be to give her up for adoption.

Well, not aborting the baby was a good start... not using a condom though, makes them look irresponsible/stupid... at least they got support from their parents

I think they should put the baby up for adoption. It'd be hard growing up like that. They should have been smart at the beginning and not gotten pregnant in the first place.

I want to know what Alfie Patten and Chantelle Steadmans parents think about this. I don't think I could live with myself if I was that old and had a child. Its too young and someone should have tuaght those children right from wrong. I am going to pray that that baby will grow up just as any other child would. Having parents that young isn't right... And I want to know the other 25 who voted they are responsible. For one, they can't afford a child, and two, they just ruined thier lives. Yeah, they have a beuatiful baby, but it wont be all fun and games when you have to take care of her.

What seems to be the problem here? Alfie Patten is a teenager and we all know teenagers are having sex. And you can't stop them because they are going to have sex anyway. How unrealistic of you to think they will keep their clothes on. We all know that is unrealistic. Well, with every action there are consequences. And one of the consequences of having sex is pregnancy. So, using liberal logic, what seems to be the problem here?
