According to a new government survey, there has been an increase in the amount of women who consume alcohol while pregnant. In fact, the study revealed that some women who drink alcohol during pregnancy actually go on binges.
Further, "...nearly 1 in 5 said they went on at least one binge – downing four or more drinks. Pregnant women ages 35 to 44 were the biggest drinkers." The study included 14,000 pregnant women. What do you think of this recent fad? Is it OK... or dangerous?

On the serious side, if alcohol shrinks the brain on each indulgence, it must do one hell of a job on a fetus. For a 120 lb woman with a half pound fetus, about 1/2% of alcohol of consumed alcohol is absorbed by the fetus. When the fetus is about 3 pounds the absorption is about 2.5%. At 5 pounds, 4%. That one hell of a hangover for the mothers must be even greater for the fetus who had never before experienced the dizziness, the nausea and the tremendous headache. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a known condition and devastates the start of a life. It is difficult enough to without any exposure to the vices of drugs, alcohol, starvation or obesity.
Is it really that difficult for a mother to not drink wile she has child in her? Drinking wile pregnant is a selfish thing to do. If you can't go without drinking wile your pregnant than maybe you should seek help or not have a baby.

Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is a pattern of mental and physical defects that can develop in a fetus in association with high levels of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Current research also implicates other lifestyle choices made by the prospective mother. Indications for lower levels of alcohol are inconclusive.[1] The current recommendation of both the Surgeon General of the United States and the British Department of Health is to drink no alcohol at all during pregnancy.[2][3][4]
Alcohol crosses the placental barrier and can stunt fetal growth or weight, create distinctive facial stigmata, damage neurons and brain structures, which can result in psychological or behavioral problems, and cause other physical damage.[5][6][7] Surveys found that in the United States, 10–15% of pregnant women report having recently drunk alcohol, and up to 30% drink alcohol at some point during pregnancy.[
I say:
STOP IT!
