Adele wasn't exactly a big hit on the cover of British Vogue. "Adele is the most popular woman in the world, but one of the worst sellers we've ever had," Editor in Chief Alexandra Shulman revealed, according to vogue.co.uk. Ouch.

So why was the English singer such a flop in ... England? "Music stars haven't sold at all well," she explained. "I find there has to be a relationship with the person on the cover that goes beyond how they look." And everyone has a relationship with ... themselves. "Our most successful cover was the millennium issue -- which didn't have anyone on it, but acted like a mirror so you could see your own reflection!" she said.

So who would Shulman love to see on the cover? One certain pretty English princess, for starters. "I'd love to have Kate Middleton on the cover. I assure you it is not for want of asking," she said. We're not really sure where the Adele cover went wrong. She's super popular, super talented and very beautiful. Do you think Vogue readers (at least British Vogue) readers prefer more typical fashion-y types?

I don't even believe the sales were drastically low as it's put. No one buys Vogue based on the cover photo. It's Vogue. You're either a reader or you're not.

Why should she alone be the reason of the worst sale ? Did they check for any other reasons ? e.g.: simply for uninteresting content ? I think it was a bad coincidence for Adele otherwise she has a more beautiful face than Gisele Büdchen's sans expression

I'm not hating against Adele, but I don't think that photo suites her. She looks gorgeous, but this isn't the best photo for Vogue, in my opinion.

Adele is amazing! She is so talented and the only reason I can see why they didn't buy the magazine is because she is stick thin. So many people are so concerned about vanity that they forget that we are people with feelings and there is more to us then just "beauty." Beauty isn't just skin deep there are more levels to beauty that we can't even comprehend. And Vogue magazines are expensive and you are literally buying a fricking book when you get one of those magazines!

I do not buy a magazine based on the cover model. I buy it based on the articles within. If that issue did not sell well, British Vogue only has itself to blame.
