Acid Reflux Anyone?

...Kat... 2012/06/30 08:43:16
I get it every night, pretty much. How do YOU prevent/help your acid reflux? I'd like some ideas, since Tums no longer helps, & I don't have much money to spend. No, I don't drink soda, at least not hours before bed, & I don't eat anything long before bed. Any cheap/free remedies? I could really use some help! Thanks :)
You!

Stay away from baking soda as it can cause acid/base balance problems if used too frequently. Try upping your intake of Vit D to 2000 iu per day and taking a supplement before each meal called Betaine, it's derived from beets.

I have this problem bad myself. Used to be on the pills, and I've been seriously considering getting BACK on them, as they cut it off at the knees. But I find that lemon lime soda, while usually not fully alleviating it, at least eases it some.

Mix apple cider vinegar with water and something sweet, like honey or agave syrup. It's not the best tasting, but it does neutralize the acid.

I live in the UK and rather than take tums or rennies you can get Omeprazole from the doctors for free in Scotland and it prevents it from happening

Acid reflux is a permanent condition that is very serious, baking soda is not something that should be used. It requires medical attention

I have issues with my stomach, too. Change your diet. Breakfast is light, one egg or cream of wheat. Lunch, soup with white bread, same at dinner. I also drink apple juice and cranberry juice. Plenty of water. Good luck.
    Have a nice day !

Thanks! I've tried changing lots of things. I used to take 88 cent pills from WalMart, but I don't know what kind they were lol. I'll have to try eggs :) apple juice & cranberry don't help, my stomache's picky lol. Even water upsets it. I usually drink ice tea :) you have a nice day as well!
