According to the new Obama campaign ad and the President's remarks, this is the team that was responsible for the Osama bin Laden raid.

What is it about conservatives that makes them abandon even a shred of rationality in order to attack one of the greatest military accomplishments we've had in many a year? The President has never failed to give credit to the brave SEALS who carried out the mission, to the military experts who worked with the President to come up with a workable plan, to the intelligence resources that managed to track bin Laden down, and everyone else involved in this team effort. It is truly disgusting that Right Wingers who like to call themselves "patriots" are determined to denigrate and minimize every accomplishment this country makes just because they can't admit that the man they hate so much is responsible for those accomplishments.

According to everyone right up to Donald Rumsfeld there was absolutely NO useful information regarding bin Laden gained from the illegal and unconstitutional torture program the Bush Administration implemented. In fact, it likely made things a lot more difficult for this nation as it inflamed our enemies and motivated them to attack us more fiercely.

And the President has never failed to give credit to the CIA and other intelligence personnel that did develop the necessary intel to track him down. A CIA special ops team, by the way, that the Bush Administration discontinued in 2006 and that had to virtually start from scratch when President Obama took office.

I applaud him for making the call. I loathe him for turning the mission and its outcome into a political campaign issue. He has demeaned the mission as well as the Seals who were in harms way and actually carried out the order. But one should expect this from Obama as he is a blatant narcissist.

President Bush's day-old reelection advertising campaign generated criticism and controversy yesterday, as relatives of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist strikes charged that television commercials using images from the attacks were exploiting the tragedy for political gain.

The reaction to the ads put Bush campaign officials on the defensive on a day in which they had hoped to have the political spotlight to themselves after months in which media attention focused on the Democratic candidates and their criticisms of the president. The ads quickly became a political issue, with the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee firing salvos over them.

Not quite the same thing as it was an important issue for the candidates to address. They could not just ignore that it happened. They had to show who had the best plan of what to do about it in the days ahead. Unlike an already dead terrorist which had long since ceased to be an issue.

Oh for God's sake, even you can't be so blinded by partisanship as to think it was appropriate for Dick Cheney to say "if you vote for Kerry we'll get attacked again" or for them to create the phony terror color chart which we now know was used not for any national security purpose but merely to frighten people when elections loomed.

And the issue of "who can keep us safe" is no better illustrated by the fact that after seven years of utter and apparently deliberate failure to capture the man responsible for the 9/11 attacks this President focused our priorities and got the job done. Bush's 9/11 ad showed that he could not keep this nation safe. Obama's accomplsihment shows that he can and has kept us safe.

Truth is I believe he died years ago from Kidney failure as reported by the rest of the world news organiztions and America kept his image alive to be 'the face of terror' for Americans. because America can not grasp that terrorist groups are like a hydra cut off one head and 2 more replace them.
The way to defeat terror is not to kill leaders but to make them unwelcome in any counntry and to cut off thier supplies of weapons and money. Thus slowly starving them to death.

The President is the antithesis of a narcissist. He has never failed to give proper and due credit to the SEALS who carried out the mission, to the support personnel that helped them, to the intelligence agents that developed the information needed, to the military leaders who he worked with to develop an actionable plan, and to everyone else involved. It is not the President who is politicizing this achievement, it is the Right Wing. Every candidate discusses their accomplishments when they are running for office. It is normal. President Obama has every right to be proud of his role in taking out bin Laden. The Right simply cannot admit that the President is not as evil as they have tried and failed to portray him as for the last four years.
