A Self-Making Bed: Brilliant or Bad Idea?

Have you ever woken up in the morning and wished that your bed would just make itself? Well, a Spanish furniture company has got you covered.

OHEA’s new “smart bed” can function on either automatic or manual mode. Under automatic mode, three seconds after the last person gets out of the bed, mechanical arms begin pulling the pillows, sheets, and blankets back into place. The entire bed-making process takes about 50 seconds from start to finish. The same mechanics take place in manual mode, but they are initiated by a remote control.

According to the company’s website, there are a few built in safety features. “If the mechanism is activated when the person is still in bed, the device will not function and if pressure is applied to the bed while it is being made (with the mechanism functioning) the device stops immediately until the remote control is again activated (if the switch is set to the manual mode).”

Overall, the OHEA smart bed seems pretty great! However, it does have one big flaw: the bed only works with the company’s bedding. On the plus side, though, inserts do allow you to adjust the comforter seasonally.

So, what do you think SodaHeads? Is OHEA’s self-making smart bed brilliant or a bad idea?

Parents won't need to scream at the kids about making their beds now.

Wonder if they make something to pick up clothes and toys?

One word "lazy". If you're lazy not to make your bed what will they think of next? The next item will be something to wipe your a##.

I think it`s OK. Johnathan Muir invented a bed that stood him on his feet in the morning.

I like my blankets to be wrapped under my feet. It looks like it has to be under the bed and it would suck to not be able to do that. I'll just do it myself x.X

What a waste of money, cost more initially, cost you electricity when you use it, It will break down and all so you can save a minute making a bed. Height of laziness.
Ugly bed and use their bedding, you are stuck buying from them until you get rid of the thing.

I don't see the point in making your own bed... you're just going to mess it up that night anyway. Even if it does it itself, it still seems pointless.

Pretty cool, however it limits choice of bed and type of duvet as you'd probably have to use a thin one all the time!

It sounded cool but now I'm dissapointed. Where are the big robot arms with the mickey-mouse gloved hands on the end that carefully pull the sheets up? And not only do they have to make the bed, but then get out a little feather duster and give the bed a little clean.
I guess there are always worse ideas than a self-making bed.

It seems like it would just be easier to make your own bed. You can adjust for things like having more than two pillows .

If you're in a wheelchair or on crutches, maybe, but it's not that hard to pull the sheet up, pull the blanket up, and put the pillows on top. Two second job.

The fact that it only works with their bedding takes all the fun of decorating out. Who would want that? Plus it takes, 2? 3? minutes to make your bed. Really, how lazy are we?
