A Cold Cap on Your Head May Fight Insomnia: Incredible or Uncomfortable?

Do you suffer from insomnia? Doctors have discovered that cooling your brain may help you sleep better. That is, if it's not too uncomfortable!

The study found that insomniacs put to bed with caps filled with the coolest water slept 89 per cent of the time they were in bed – and nodded off three minutes earlier than those who had no trouble sleeping, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s annual conference heard.

British experts said that the science was sound – but questioned how practical and comfortable it is to turn in wearing a water-filled cap.

Dr Neil Stanley, a sleep consultant, said: ‘The down side is how cold is cold? Most of us don’t find it pleasurable to have a cold head – and certainly not in bed.’

Do you think the anti-insomnia cap is worth a try?

Honestly, I've always found that I can fall asleep more easily with an ice pack resting on my head. I suppose this means I was on the right track?

The ancient chi gong masters knew this thousands of years ago, the head should always be cool,,the body warm,,, but a cap,, easier more comfortable ways to achieve this

Make your head cold to sleep, increase discomfort which is detrimental to sleep.

Counting sheep for a start, then naming them and making a note of it - you could also create an alaphabetical list of their assigned names - by the time you get to this stage your either bored to death or asleep!!

Gee, I bet they never thought of that...
I can see how insomnia's easy to laugh at, don't get me wrong, but it's actually hell to live with at times- Just last week I had to leave school because i was delusional from sleep-deprivation. I think if a bed helped I would be better by now!

There have been time that I had had to warn my family that "This is day three now so you are taking care of me"being sleep deprived is serious business.
