    To elaborate: Mitochondria=ATP and ATP=life

The cell would run out of energy and eventually die since mitochondria manufacture energy.

There may be other effects, but the mitochondria are used to help produce energy for a cell. Without mitochondria, you could not break down food molecules to produce energy, eventually, cells would not be able to fuel any chemical processes and they would die.
