An 8th grader at a Louisiana Middle school planned out a school shooting, that luckily didn't take place. However, the 15 year old brought a .25 caliber semiautomatic pistol to class, fired one round in the classroom, and then took one to his head. The student shot himself in the bathroom of the Lacrose-Cut Off middle school. Investigators found a suicide note in this bag that described the boy's plan for a shooting spree. The school officials said they have metal detectors, but they aren't used all the time.
Should all schools be equipped with metal detectors?

Metal detectors will not help here. it's necessary to develop spirituality of children. cultivate a sense of responsibility for their own life and their posterits. we should understand why children are so aggressive. Maybe they need something more in this life, aren't they?
I think teachers need to be more involved with their students...I know that's difficult... but as a parent, just there for sports events and class activities, I can spot some kids that just dont seem like all is well ........granted, all kids will NOT be the same... but when a kid is alone and seems troubled, guidance or SOMEONE should step in and help. I don't know if that's even feasible tho
The best way to stop this from happening is by creating a good, safe environment for everyone. How to make it though?
What we need is not a big scare and fancy security things, what we need is better counselors in the school.
society have reached a very troubled time in our lives.
We broadcast to everybody when something like this happens, and plant a seed in some troubled youngsters head, we invent games that teach them to kill, rape and rob,
violence is always front page news, how can we expect
troubled teens to act any other way? I guess parents are
the ones to blame, they wont take the time to raise their
children with any kind of meaning in their lives. So sad.
There is a program called "Teen Screen" that can be useful in catching many of the problems associated with mental problems and especially those that many time result in attempted or successful suicide.
The program used to be offered free of charge for the training and software. The only cost would have been for the hardware associated with it and many schools are already equipped with computers. Volunteers could run it and the cost there would be eliminated.
The program is available through Columbia University and has been around for some time.
teenager to bring a gun to school, especially if he has the help of just one other
teenager. Hand him the gun through a window. DUUUUUUUHHHHHH. And I'm
betting there are lots more ways to get anything into any school. The answers
begin at home, with the parents. We should hold parents responsible for the
actions of their children, I mean put them in jail, fine the hell out of them whatever
it takes to raise the children right. Start by teaching them how to pray, and ask
for help when they need it. Be a Mother or a Father, care about your offspring or
don't have any.
