Love Slurpees, but hate the calories? We have good news for you. 7-Eleven is rolling out a low-cal line of Slurpees this week, called Slurpee Lite, USA Today reports.

Not surprisingly, the campaign will target females in their 20s -- who are weight-conscious but still youthful enough to crave a Slurpee -- with this tagline: "All flavor. No sugar" (the drink is made with Splenda instead). "We talked to a group who said they would drink Slurpees more often if we take out the sugar and reduce the calories," Laura Gordon, vice president of brand innovation, told USA Today.

But how many calories are you really saving? An 8-ounce Slurpee Lite Fanta Sugar-Free Mango has 20 calories, compared to 66 calories in an 8-ounce Fanta Wild Cherry Slurpee drink, the paper reports. Two other sugar-free flavors, strawberry banana and cherry limeade, will hit stores this summer. We're not really sold on Splenda, but after 45 years, the Slurpee was due for a makeover. And here's the really good news: You can try one for free on May 23.

why would you get a slurpee if you want something low calorie, or healthier? These are basically drinks full of sugar and flavouring lol, nothing healthy about that.
The new "lite" slurpee probably tastes terrible without the extra sugar.

"Lite" or not, it is still garbage. Nothing in that thing worth consuming. And, Splenda is a poison, you would be better off having the large amount of regular sugar. But if you really care about yourself you would avoid them all together.

Whether synthetic chemical sugar substitute, or plant-derived Stevia, it's better than killing your metabolism with toxic high-fructose corn syrup, the major source of obesity and diabetes, even more than cane sugar. But why drink those pop confections at all? They wouldn't exist without huge marketing departments.

The artificial sweeteners used in "lite" drinks are worse for you than even high fructose corn syrup, which is a nasty substance itself. This includes Splenda. Splenda touts itself as being "made from sugar," but it actually only has one molecule in common with sugar. People (including myself) can have bad effects from drinking Splenda, including digestive upset and blood pressure elevation.
Aspartame is also bad. It is a neurotoxin and can cause mood swings.
Saccharine causes cancer with long term use.
    Seriously, straight-up nasty.
I'd be running for the rest room if I drank this stuff, either to throw up or make an emergency pit stop on the "throne."

OK, let's take an already chemical filled, unhealthy slurpee, add more chemicals and in the process, make it taste yucky. Sounds like a plan....

They really aren't even "healthy" anyway, just reduced calorie. "Lite" doesn't equal "healthy."

Why is that in USA, no matter how mature a person gets, their taste buds don't grow up? Disgusting! I can't believe people drink this stuff, and say to themselves, "MMM, that's good."

I'm wary of artificial sweeteners. I think a Slurpee is one of those things that you shouldn't have every day, but it's okay to drink one once in a while without worrying about the 66 calories.

I have never had a 7 Eleven slurpees so have no idea if the regular one is good.I am assuming it would be terrible based on my experience with all the sugar substitute garbage I have to drink which are all gross.
