From a Christian perspective, I'd say that Pride is the worst. In Christian mythology, Lucifer rebelled against God because of his pride. He hated being Number 2. Better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.
Phony Christians are unable to overcome their pride. That's why they have such a haughty, arrogant, condescending attitude toward other people. The true Christians give up their pride. Humility is what sets them apart from the hypocrites.
I would say Envy. The power of envy I find is very destructive. I think people who envy are so blinded by jelousy, no one and nothing will stand in his or her way. They would try to get what they want, even if it eventually means hurting the people around them. I also find it the pathway to greed. One who is envious cannot find one thing enough and satisfying, always to see someone who posseses something better and they get jelous and want it all.
Nobody is excused from any of these deadly sins as they are scripted. The point of conversation was which one is the worst and unless you are perfect? I suspect we are guilty of at least some of them.
I never said we was not guilty of them of course we are .What I am saying is that sin is sin to God if you go kill some one it is sin if you go rape some one it is sin .sin is sin.
I felt lazy/sloth was the true source and cultivated the rest. Laziness just generates a wealth of issues that all seem to feed off the rest like a parasite. How do you view the pride?
Pride inflates the ego; ego wants to be fashionable and that takes wealth; ego needs envy others more clever that they; wrath when you fail; ego lusting for all that is pleasurable; ego insists that if it feels good do it until it hurts; ego never picks up after itself.
lazy/sloth is weak and has deflated ego and lusts/wants for more and is jealous/envious for those who have more. Loses self worth in pity and righteousness/pride and goes over the edge with selfishness/anger/gluttony....on and on
anyway I guess point of interesting thought provoking views
Sin ............................. Virtue
-----------------------------... Pride .......................... Humility
Avarice/Greed ........... Generosity
Envy .......................... Love
Wrath/Anger .............. Kindness
Lust ........................... Self control
Gluttony .................... Faith and Temperance
Sloth ......................... Zeal
I'll go with Envy and say that it motivates some of the most atrocious and violent behavior. I kind of use envy comparable to money is the root of all evil -- no, desire is. Anger is the result of something, like not getting what you want, but envy is the motivator.
I would have a better argument that solidifies my choice, but I'm way too tired.

Sloth aka laziness seems to be the one of the dominant offenses as it cultivates the rest. Idle hands =the devil workshop
