I only go like once every 2 or 3 months. I reasearch the movie I go to see. WHY?!?!?!
Because it costs like $10 a movie ticket!!! $12-$13 for 3D!!!! And I want popcorn and a soda, so thats like $20 something dollers!!!! I was SO pissed last time I went to a movie theater. $8 for popcorn!!!!! BULLSH**!!!! For $8 that popcorn better dance and sing!!!!
A movie has to be worth like $20 dollers to see, because thats how much the whole trip costs!!!!

According to a recent poll, the majority of Americans no longer go to the movies on a regular basis. What about you SodaHeads?
Harris Interactive (on behalf of CouponCabin) set out to measure consumer interest in hitting the local cinema. According to their survey, 61% of adults said that they rarely or never go out to the movies. Of those who do attend, 55% said that they go to see films less often than they did before the recession.
It would be easy to blame the bad economy alone. However, The National Association of Theatre Owners explained that “movie theaters do especially well during economic downturns.” In fact, during six of the last eight recessions, box office sales actually increased. Interestingly, movie attendance (like lipstick) has often been one of those affordable splurges that people indulge in during economic downturns.
But this time around, things are different. Maybe it’s because movie tickets are no longer considered affordable (especially for 3D movies). Or perhaps, it’s the mediocre quality of recent films. Or, it might be that movie theaters have a hard time competing with services like Netflix and Redbox.
Now, we’re curious to hear about your cinema habits. Do you regularly go to the movies?

I actually get a lot of complimentary movie vouchers, from sites like Fandango, from my distributors and suppliers, that I use to pay for my family's admission.
We now go once in a while if we get a gift card... that's the only way i can afford it..
I'd rather watch a movie at home anyways...
I go when there is, what I think, a good movie on. I feel like its going to the casinos. Its a gamble. I try to stick with stars that I feel do good movies, but sometimes they don't.
Love going to movies with friends, we always do lunch too. More of a social thing.
It is a shame, it is a traditional pass time and I would go more if it werent consumed by greed.
