Did you catch the "Glee" episode earlier this year, when Quinn nearly paralyzed herself by texting and driving? As usual, the show was touching on an important issue.
An anonymous national survey conducted last year found that 58 percent of high school seniors said they had texted or emailed while driving during the previous month, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 43 percent of high school juniors admitted to the same dangerous behavior.

"A lot of teens say 'Well, if the car's not moving and I'm at a stoplight or I'm stuck in traffic, that's OK,'" Amanda Lenhart, a senior researcher at the Pew Research Center in Washington who has done focus groups with teens on the topic, told The Associated Press.
Other teens say they know it's not safe, but think it's safer if they hold the phone up so they can see the road and text at the same time, Lenhart told the AP. Pretty scary to think of all those distracted teens behind the wheel ... do you text and drive?

Just the other day I was coming up on a Cool Chicky Babe in one of these in the #1 lane on the Fry. doing 75 mph. No traffic in front of her and suddenly she slowed to just above 50 mph. Yup she though she was SO hot she had to text back. Almost had me run into her! DUMB but she's SO Cool!!! I sure hope her Soul survives as well as anyone else's involved when she screws up doing 75 mph in the #1 Lane!
And no she is not working...so looks like I am just chit out of luck....going to let my insurance company take care of it in the mean time I am out of a car AGAIN.....just got the damn thing this past Monday.
All I paid for my car was $2500 and that was the cheapest I could find for my income...and from what Progressive tells me the car to them is only worth $800 and seeing I was not injured the most I can get is $1200...
I am NOT a happy camper as you can tell...once again I have to revert to asking my friends and family for rides to the store until I can get one.
Either way I am S.O.L.
The only thing I can do is petition the courts to put a lean on what ever she has and if she is a native of my town seeing she is under age I can attach her parents income as long as she is living in their home. But we will see what the insurance company says first...than the courts...and heck I can save myself a lot of money by representing my self.
Once you get a judgment, if she does get a job, or someone gives her another car, etc., you can garnishee her wages or levy on property and have the Sheriff sell it to pay the judgment. Some money in the future is better than none at all. The same attorney might collect the judgment for a 1/3 fee, if and when it's collected. I would try to make her life as miserable as she has made yours!
and you are right....those quit claims come in handy when needed....and they can be renewed every year of longer.
And? What is the point of this sentence? If my car is not moving, sure, I'll text. What is the problem with doing that in my driveway? On the side of the road?
The only times I text and drive are on clear, long, country roads--with no oncoming traffic, bridges, or other crap that could get in the way. If I'm all by myself on the road, I don't see a problem with it.
And I don't text in traffic or when other cars are around me. There is no need to pull over on the side of the road out of traffic flow when there is no traffic. I agree texting is very dangerous when in a busy environment, like a city or town. I wouldn't text going down mainstreet.
AND WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IT CANNOT WAIT TILL YOU GET HOME ... NO ONE IS DYING OR IS ON THE VERGE OF DYING...YOUR HOUSE IS NOT ON FIRE AND EVEN IF IT WAS THE DAMAGE IS DONE AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT,
But what is in our lives?
I have a 42 year old that drove me nuts once with her texting ... every 30 or 40 seconds during a 4 hour drive all I heard was her little ding a ling a ling....got to the point I told her to TURN THE DAMN THING OFF....she got ticked off at me...told me that SHE paid the bill not me and I replyed MICHELE IT IS A LONG WAY BACK TO THE HOUSE SO I'D WATCH IT IF I WERE YOU.....it was suddenly quiet the last 2 hours of the trip and even more quiet the other 6 hours returning.
point is taylord there is no excuse for all this texting....I really don't think its main intention was to be like it is....just like the cell phones.
I can remember when the cell phones first came out the looked big and boxy and mostly business people had them because they were so expensive.
You get a ticket for texting/talking on a cellphone and driving here in CA.
I'm not capable of doing it safely.
I can not think of ANYTHING that I would have to text about that is so important I'd have to do it while driving.
I fail to see how texting in that situation makes things more dangerous than texting on the side of the road.
