While America is a strong figure in both history and politics, it's become the laughing-stock of the world because of how close-minded many of its citizens are. I still like being an American, but at the same time, I don't.

As bad as things are we still love what our country once stood for. If we had some honest people in our State Government and Washington D.C.with things being accomplished for the good of the people and with the backing of most Americans we would have more to celebrate. I look at it as a good day to BBQ.

My independence is directly linked to America's independence.

    It's great to be independent.

Last year we marched and rallied in DC for the legalization of marijuana and I am thankful for living in a country that allows such a thing.

We celebrate the birth of our nation and honor those who made it possible for each of us to be free. A little food does not detract from remembering what we are celebrating.

I was raised to be very patriotic and we always remember the reasons for holidays, be they patriotic holidays or religious ones. We always have a prayer before eating that includes our thanksgiving for the holiday and the reasons for it.

Actually, I meant to click "patriotism and good food", but God bless America!
My TEA Party group is in the local parade on Wed. morning, then my wife and I probably heading to my best friend's house for a cookout and fireworks. He's an ex-Marine, and is just as patriotic as I am, if not more.

It only takes a few minutes to read the Declaration of Independence... compare that to the weeks of reading the new Affordable Care Act -- or any piece of legislation.

A Holiday celebrated in the middle of the week is NOT really much of a Holiday.

Tell me about it. I am THE United States of America. LOL . . . . Anyway, my Paternal Side arrived here in 1729 and my Maternal Side arrived here in 1721; that's One-Half Century prior to the Convention of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia (Actually, it was around August/September of '74 when we sent them up there.) But one of my buddies on the Golf Course once told me that; "I don't mind telling you, Jack! You are NOT from the United States; you ARE THE United States of America!" . And I don't mind telling you; THAT just about sums it up. BTW, you can find me right here on the 'Net; I think it's somewhere around Pages 67-73; it varies from time-to-time; just see The Descendants of Jean Fruge (Pronounced Zjaun Froo-Jhay). Okay? "Let Ole Glory Fly!"

You could have just stopped at "I don't think." You can BBQ, drink beer and watch fireworks in Cuba, Latin America, Greece...hell most other places. Maybe you would just be happier there. In your case, ignorance is bliss! Most people do care about the constitution and the LIVES of others. Millions have died for your ignorance, but hey if you think their lives don't matter than you really are a sad individual!
