The person who was the Base for Mal Character was murderous animal who raped his slaves and killed unarmed Native American childern. The hero of the story spent is life keeping other people from having Liberty .

"The person who was the Base for Mal Character was murderous animal" makes little sense, especially since it is ungrammatical, and there was no character that I remember named "Mal." I can only assume that you mean "Mel," or the character played by Mel Gibson, Benjamin Martin. "Mal" is a prefix meaning "bad," which could be your point, I suppose.

Regardless of any historical person whose life carried some similarities, the character played by Mel Gibson did not do those things, and since nothing in the movie specifies a historical person upon whom his character was based, the existence of any such person is just conjecture. Using a conjectural relationship to a slaveholder to discredit an imperfect, though important character in a movie, is like using a rotten apple you ate as a child to discredit a pig roast in which an apple was placed in the pig's mouth. The two are NOT related, and doing so just makes you sound more like an anti-Liberty, uneducated goober than you already did.
  • Joey edifyguy 2012/07/11 11:00:20

Yeah it is anti-Liberty to not support a SLAVE holder.. think about that for a second . And it is not conjectured it is confirmed that is who the movie was based off of.

"Based off of" is neither a good way to end a sentence nor an indicator that the two are the same person. The movie specifically rejected that aspect of this person, as his black helpers stated that they were free to the nasty officer (whose name escapes me at the moment.)

The movie was historical fiction. The two characters are obviously not the same, and you're just grasping at straws to try to save your argument.

The writers them self said it was based on his life. but lets forget what the writers said . And lets use this made up world were slaves were treated so well.

You are missing the point. The movie is not a documentary about this mystery man's life (you still haven't told me who he may be.) When you make a character BASED ON a real one you take the parts that fit your narrative, and discard the ones that don't fit. You are making up a character, using pieces of others. The final product is a new, never-before exhibited person, NOT a rehash of an existing one.

Of course I celebrate the 4th.

People died for this founding of this country. The least we can do is celebrate their contribution.

Without Independence Day we wouldn't be Independent in the first place. Many Americans take this for granted, and that's always a mistake.

We need to be remembering our founding fathers sacrifice's and be thankful for our freedom of those who died and suffered for us all. This 4th of July let's start celebrating our independence from Obama's tyranny and dictatorial actions and his disregard of the rights of We The People, vote him out of Office!

I'm not always afforded the day to do with as I like. In this instance, I'm working. However, on the 4th of July when I awake, pour myself a cup of black perk coffee and wander out on to the deck to complete solitude in the country.....I make, and take the moment to pause and consider over 200 years ago, ther fervor of our original members and their unbridled desire to have for them....and we, the future generations, a place to call our own.
If you take the time to listen, you can still hear the shrill of those collective pipes.

For me, its all about the fireworks. My grandpa owns a house right on a huge lake and every year there's two parties on opposite sides of the lake and every single year they buy a huge bunch of fireworks and shoot them off to see which party has bigger explosives. And thats not counting the other people on the lake with fireworks. To give you guys an idea, picture any public show of fireworks times 10!!!!

We still have a great nation, however I know what you mean. Since the last presidential election, things are not going as well as they have in the past. I do hope this administration will be voted out in November, 2012!

Which two New England states, were not a part of the original Thirteenth Colonies to get independence from Great Britain? How many years before independence did England, become Great Britain? What was our nation's first capital? Then go to the barbecue!

I BBQ at LEAST 3x a week in the Summer, so any particular date isn't an excuse. This is my country's birthday!!! Why shouldn't I celebrate?

Both! America does have its political shortcomings, and the economy isn't exactly on its feet (understatements, I know), but that's exactly why we need to remember what our country's foundation was and the ideals it stood for: we remember our past, so we can learn from it and brighten our future.
On a more lighthearted note, I love the summertime cookouts, BBQ grilling (being an Alabamian, I know it's an old Southern tradition), family gatherings, and various games and activities. But ever since I was little, my favorite part of the 4th of July was the fireworks.

Unfortunately, I still don't have a grill, thanks to the HAMP instituted by the Prez (still waitin' fer the DIL to kick in, so I could affrod a grill.), but I've managed to put together a uniquely American 4th of July meal of pork chops with a cranberry/mollassas/walnut glaze, collard greens with turnips and bacon, corn on the cob, and red skin potato salad for the family. We'll survive regardless of whatever administration we get. I'm thinking it is Dependence Day as opposed to Independence Day, but this too shall pass.
