30-somethings without children: Do you want to have children, or are you glad to not have the added responsibility?

I am constantly back and forth on this subject. Most of the time, I am quite content to be the aunty, and just visit my brother's kids once a week. Once in a while, I kinda wish I had one of my own. Not a baby or a kid, though. I prefer to skip the childbirth, potty-training, and elementary school stuff. I might want to adopt a 13yr old. Young enough to still be raised properly, and old enough to reason with.

+2I'm an unmarried 30 something without children. Looking back, I'm glad that I didn't get married or have kids until now, but I very much hope to become a husband and father. As I get older, I realize how important family really is and want one of my own.reply - JRGoesGreenland 2012/09/02 09:47:41
+1I don't have kids and I don't want any now, as I think, I'm getting too old for that ( I'll turn 44 in 3 weeks ). My last relationship ended bad 16 years ago and I've been alone ever since. So today I'm kinda glad, we didn't have any kids at the time.reply - Tom R 007 2012/09/02 06:51:10
I am an uncle and love my niece and nephew, but I would love to have kids one day. I have worked with kids quite a lot and I'm very good at relating to them (I'm a bit of a big kid really :-)).reply - kyle 2012/09/02 06:27:39

+2I have dated people with kids before, so I know I would be a fairly good mom, but I am not sure I have the energy and patience anymore. It's different when you have them, but since I don't right now, I am pretty content being an aunty.reply
