30-somethings without children: Do you want to have children, or are you glad to not have the added responsibility?

I am constantly back and forth on this subject. Most of the time, I am quite content to be the aunty, and just visit my brother's kids once a week. Once in a while, I kinda wish I had one of my own. Not a baby or a kid, though. I prefer to skip the childbirth, potty-training, and elementary school stuff. I might want to adopt a 13yr old. Young enough to still be raised properly, and old enough to reason with.

My last relationship ended bad 16 years ago and I've been alone ever since. So today I'm kinda glad, we didn't have any kids at the time.reply

+2I have dated people with kids before, so I know I would be a fairly good mom, but I am not sure I have the energy and patience anymore. It's different when you have them, but since I don't right now, I am pretty content being an aunty.reply
