You can see it in the hostility posted about Barney Frank, the murders of Matthew Shepherd, Gwen Araju, Teena Brandon and the beatings gay people suffer.

You can see it in the Nazi like Christianist propaganda against homosexuality.

This country is far, far away from electing a gay president.

Hell, I bet the majority of people who would quake at the thought, are offended by the movie "Milk" (even they even know who he was).

If it weren't for Led Zeppelin, Green Day wouldn't exist. And though creative, Green Day pales in comparison to Zeppelin. Let's be honest, pretty much any popular band after Nirvana is a carbon of the band that went before.

Now if we were talking about Gossip and Led Zeppelin, maybe, just maybe, this question could be taken seriously.

Leviticus was a very smart man. If you read through the so-called laws, they all have one common denominator -- survival and growth of the group.

Even disallowing the cutting of hair makes sense in that it allowed one follower to recognize the other.

Think about it. The laws protect from potential food poisoning, inbreeding, racial impurities, and so on. The most apparent "laws" surround procreation. Homosexuality in men does not produce babies.

It is important to note the laws don't disallow homosexuality in women. That would be because women were property and a husband had every right to rape his wife.

Another prime example is it is a sin to screw your wife when she's having her period. Why? No babies.

These archaic and outdated laws do have a scientific foundation, but are simply not applicable to today.

The homophobes hold on to that one statement because, in all truth, it's all they got.

Over the years I have posed the question many times with the stipulation, do this without God. They never can really come up with a rational answer. Even the attempts they offer are red herring arguments that are not logical just an attempt at emotional blackmail.

Good luck and be prepared to get smacked around quite a bit. For some reason trying to get some people to face their own ignorance, bigotry and irrational fears makes them pretty darn hostile.

Oh and don't let yourself get caught in the lather, rinse, repeat that they'll try to get you in. Just because they keep repeating it over and over doesn't make it true. That is one of the first things cults do when they brainwash you.

  • +7 raves Despite what the church wants you to believe, marriage is not a religious act. Marriage original... Despite what the church wants you to believe, marriage is not a religious act. Marriage originally, in the simplest of terms, was a joining of two people. That joining was usually an exchange of property. Woman was considered part of that property.

The act of marriage is the act of commitment and a legal binding of the couple that offers protections and privileges. Even today the act of marriage, which must be registered with the state, revolves around property and financial rights.

The religious act is mere ceremony. Pomp and circumstance and a personal thing. All this BS about marriage being God's sanction of marriage is not something universal. It's a personal choice that's it.
