Last I saw Liz Taylor (when she was younger I thought she was super hot; one of the most beautiful ever-violet eyes and all) she was in a wheelchair not looking so good. How did she seem, healthwise?
Brando definitely changed acting from the wooden stiff style (though, I do like a lot of those 40's films) to the more natural realistic era. For that, he deserves to be considered one of the greatest actors ever!
Is this the same son who went to jail awhile back for defending his sister, or something to that affect? I guess Liz Taylor is 'The Godmother' : ) to the Brando clan, now.
Hey, I don't think I told you this yet. A few weeks ago I saw Elizabeth Taylor. She came in for a private screening for Michael Jackson's "This Is It". It was only her and a small group of people that she brought. Apparently Brando's son was one of them. I didn't realize it at the time. He was on Larry King talking about it the other day. I really was just paying attention to her. I made it point to go right where she was going to be. I had to see her. She's a legend and one of my favorites.
I watched the whole Oscar ceremony. I liked the way they had previous winners in the acting categories present the nominees and winners, that was pretty cool! I like the idea of an actor (not a hack comedian) do the hosting. Hugh Jackman and the whole gig was a little too old school for my taste, but he did a great job with the musical numbers. I'm a little disappointed that Rourke didn't win, he would have made a great acceptance speech. But I do understand why Penn won- he became a whole other person in his portrayal of Harvey Milk. You were right about Winslet. It was her year! I'm also glad you convinced me to see Slumdog. I was happy for them to win big as well. Overall I would give it a B+. ---- Don't you love the way the cameras kept cutting from Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Anniston when Jennifer and Jack Black were on stage. The media has no sense of shame! I also thought Ben Stiller's impersonating of Phoenix's meltdown on Letterman was very funny. Luv ya!!
Are you watching the Red Carpet? I am now leaning toward Sean Penn winning. I think Kate Winslet should win (and might), but Meryl could take it. Sorry no Angelina this year. Although I watched "Changeling" last night and thought it was a great flick. Clint made two amazing films in '08.
Yes, I'm ready to see Slumdog and Mickey Rouke win and make things a bit more interesting. I'm also glad a non-comedian is hosting this year- the last few comedian hosts never quite clicked with the Hollywood crowd. --- I'm happy to be back! LOL oxox
Update from comment way below- I just saw The Wrestler. I loved it. I do think Mickey Rourke deserves the Oscar. We'll see though. I did not blink once during Marisa Tomei's performance ;) ;)
I was surprised that they left out "I've Loved You So Long" in Foreign flicks. I love that movie. Maybe it's too bleak for some. I was surprised by some of the supporting nods. I am glad they recognized "Milk" over "Revolutionary Road" but I don't think Milk should or will win, but I liked it better than "R.R". Interesting how they switched around supporting to leading for Kate Winslet in The Reader, she won best supporting for G.G. I agree about Clint receiving many awards, but I loved Gran Torino. I knew it was going to get snubbed though. All in all it is about what I expected.
I was pretty close on my picks for Best Pic, Best Actor/Actress and Director. But I was way off on the supporting nods. But come on, no Dark Knight for Best Pic or Best Director, that's a crime! Marisa Tomei (who I really like) was a real surpise as Best Supp. Actress! And In a way I'm glad Clint didn't get a real nods this year, he's won plenty already! What did you think of the nominees?
Yes in a way it is similar re:Slumdog/Rocky. I get the connection. What did you think of the nominations? Were you surprised that certain things were on/or omitted?
Hello KATTTTYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
I'm finally back from the brink! HAHAHA!!! --- Yeah, you were totally right about Slumdog! It also got an Oscar Nod for Best Picture!! And yes, I got the soundtrack!!! I hope it wins for Best Pic, too! Slumdog reminded me of Rocky!!! LOL!!!!!!!!
Did you watch the G.G.'s? Slumdog mopped up. That made me really happy...and my girl Kate Winslet got two count 'em two Golden Globes. I was surprised by the Mickey Rourke win, Although I haven't seen it (yet).
Thanks for joining "Architectural Avengers". I'm still learning how to post pictures and stuff. Please be patient with me. Questions, comments on famous buildings, styles, and famous architects is forthcoming. Thanks once again, katy!
My dear friend, katy. I saw "Slumdog Millionaire" and I'm glad you told me to go see it. It was great! Great story, great location, great soundtrack, and a perfect ending. You're the best, Ms. KatyCapone!
Cal you MUST go see "Slumdog Millionaire". If your town doesn't play it, find one near you that does. Go see it on the big screen. It is a big screen movie. Amazing. Best film of the year. Great soundtrack too.
