About Me
Visit My NEW Blog:

If you want to debate, please keep it in the forums/Q&A - I will not approve comments on my profile that simply rehash issues from the forums. If you are posting a comment simply to gay bash me, don't bother. I've seen it all before, and don't need to see again here on my profile.
I AM NO LONGER ACTIVELY USING THIS SITE
Due to the strong partisanship and in-fighting shown on this site by members of ALL sides, not to mention the non-stop bickering, BS, squabbles, personal attacks and just plain childishness by supposedly mature people, I have chosen to spend my time on my family, my blogs and my business.
Do not bother to send me messages, group requests or friend requests. I will not get them as I have turned off all email notifications and will not be logging in to check messages here. I will not be posting polls and will not be responding to them.
My apologies to those friends that I made here, as you were indeed dear to me. However, a person can take only so much BS before it just becomes too much. Had the management here actually take time to do what they promised and MODERATED this site in a FAIR AND IMPARTIAL MANNER then this might have ended up differently. Sadly, this was not to be as they obviously had an ulterior motive with their clear right-wing leanings.
For those of you who remain - good luck. More power to you for sticking it out, and I have you have fun.
Peace and fairwell.
About My Name
GVC = GayVotesCount
My name is not a protest - it is a reminder to the LGBT community that they cannot just sit back and expect the majority to have their best interests in mind and do the right thing. This is pretty clear by the results of the 2008 election with the passage of Prop 8, Prop 102 and Amendment 2.
Obviously, all votes count! You don't have to point that out to me. No, it's not an insult. If you choose to take it that way, then that's your problem, not mine.
NO - MY NAME IS NOT PREJUDICE OR BIGOTRY! If you think that, then you need to break out a dictionary and learn the definitions of those words. Seriously - if you think anyone advocating for Gay Rights is the one being bigoted, you probably need to look in the mirror first and foremost.

The reason you don't hear/see much of us is that we don't make nuisances of ourselves, prosyletize or try to shove our beliefs on others the way the Evangelical Christians do. We are happy living our own lives and letting others live theirs, without trying to tell everyone else what to do - something that most Christians in the USA haven't figured out how to do yet. Frankly, if they figured that out, we would have a lot less conflict here, and the world in general. (more) -

What is completely amazing to me, although not surprising in the least, is the absolute and total HYPOCRISY of the groups calling for this boycott - especially the AFR - after all of their bigoted rhetoric after the passing of Prop 8 in California decrying those who would boycott businesses here who supported Prop 8.
Oh the outcry, the outrage, oh the HYPOCRISY, from those who thought that it was SO disgusting that people would DARE to boycott such "righteous" and "family values" businesses who "followed their convictions" by supporting Prop 8.
Now we have companies like PepsiCo who do exactly the same thing by following their convictions by supporting EQUAL HUMAN RIGHTS. So what is your response? START A BOYCOTT! EXACTLY WHAT YOU CONDEMNED US FOR DOING IN CALIFORNIA A FEW SHORT MONTHS AGO!
It's time for the hypocrites to mind their own houses and got back to their Churches and leave the rest of us alone.
Oh, by the way - if you think all those geeks, gamers and tech weanies out there, who are far and away supporters of equal rights for all, are going to give up their Mountain Dew, you are more nuts that we thought you were already! (more) -

For those that would put limitations in, like "depends on how they contracted it" or "not for health care fields" - those people need to go 1) get some education, 2) read the Americans With Disabilities Act, and 3) hang their heads in shame especially the ones that dare to call themselves "Christians" while they show such blatant discrimination and lack of compassion. +2 raves There are 6 places in the Bible that are commonly used to condemn homosexuality. Those interpreta... There are 6 places in the Bible that are commonly used to condemn homosexuality. Those interpretations are based on gross mistranslations and cultural biases, not necessarily the absolute "Word of God".
In fact, even Leviticus 18:22, when understood in context, is not really a condemnation of homosexuality in and of itself. When you understand that in the time that it was written, women were seen as pretty much less than human - property to be used, sold, traded, protected, the ultimate weaker sex - the commandment of "man shall not lie with man as with woman" was not a condemnation of homosexuality or homosexual sex. It was a command to men to not emasculate themselves by social standards, not to mention basic health and hygiene rules (as were most of the Levitical laws, like the proscriptions against pork and shellfish) because it was known even then that unprotected anal sex could lead to illness and death.
What the religious "right" will not tell you is that same sex marriage was celebrated by and common in the early Christian Church. It was so common that it was not mentioned in the documents - because it was not noteworthy! Why make special mention of something that happened all the time? You only record things that are worthy of special attention, because they stand out, not the every day things that happen all the time. It wasn't until the mid 4th century that same sex marriage was made illegal by the Christian Roman Emperors. Again - if it wasn't already happening, why make it illegal?
If you want some opposing views to the Christian "right"'s rather narrow opinions on this matter, here are some links with information on the matter in detail:

+13 raves These answers are based on abortions performed within the first 20 weeks of a pregnancy. Consider... These answers are based on abortions performed within the first 20 weeks of a pregnancy. Considering that the earliest recorded successful premature birth that I am aware of was 21 weeks, I support the current common cutoff of 20 weeks for elective abortions. After that point, I honestly believe that there should be a valid medical reason such as serious risk to the mother's health or a major deformity that would seriously compromise the quality of life for the child (bitch me out all you want - it's my opinion. I'll never have a child, so it's not like it makes any difference).
1. Is it human?
No - it has human DNA, it has the potential to be human, but until it is born, it's not human by my thinking.
2. Is it alive?
Philosophically - above my pay grade :) Biologically, it's a collection of cells that multiply and grow, receive nutrition and will one day become an independent human being. Legally speaking, nope - not yet. Heck, individual states and countries can't even decide on what the cutoff is for abortions.
My opinion - until it's born and can breath on its own and sustain life, at least with NICO medical support such as with a premature baby, then it's not alive yet. While it's in the womb, it's still a parasitical life form dependent on the host for its very existence.
3. Is it a person?
No, it's not. I have my doubts, based on current scientific data, as to when exactly a full term baby becomes a person, considering the information we have about the development of brain functions, cognitive functions, memory, etc.
4. Does it have human rights?
See #1
5. Is abortion murder?
If it's not human, and it's not alive, and it's legal, then it can't be murder.
6. Is it physically independent?
Of course not. Why would this even be a question?
What happens when the placenta detaches? The mother goes into immediate labor or the fetus dies.
Why are pregnant women warned against taking certain drugs and chemicals? Because there is an exchange between the blood systems of the fetus and the mother.
This is human biology 101. If someone is arguing abortion and even THINKS this is a question, they shouldn't be discussing the issue at all until they get their butts down to the library or spend some time on an unbiased educational website to learn what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks they are talking about first. Bigot (big⋅ot)
–noun
a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own
A person who regards his own faith and views in matters of religion as unquestionably right, and any belief or opinion opposed to or differing from them as unreasonable or wicked. In an extended sense, a person who is intolerant of opinions which conflict with his own, as in politics or morals; one obstinately and blindly devoted to his own church, party, belief, or opinion. +16 raves I find it interesting that you point out in item #7 the number of deaths every recorded from HIV/... I find it interesting that you point out in item #7 the number of deaths every recorded from HIV/AIDS, at the same time mentioning that (falsely) that we "want to" legalize same sex marriage. The truth is, same sex marriage was already legal and had been since the Supreme Court ruled the ban against it unconstitutional in May 2008.
Then you go on in your conclusion to state "Along with unmarried heterosexual behavior, male homosexuality should be discouraged as much as possible to responsibly address the HIV/AIDS epidemic."
So, BANNING same sex marriage and discouraging homosexuals from creating life-long, committed relationships ENCOURAGES responsibility and addresses the HIV/AIDS epidemic? I'm not sure I see the logic here. Wouldn't the opposite be true? Encouraging homosexuals to create and commit to long term relationships that do not include promiscuity and unsafe sex would be of benefit to everyone, rather than simply telling them that they are sinners and unworthy of legal rights.
Apparently you, or someone, did a good job of gather facts to put this information together. It's really sad that you took facts and mixed them together with unfounded opinions and editorial content to confuse the issue and make what should have been a clear cut case into a condemnation of something that is a true tragedy of our times. You also left out a number of facts in order to make your case, rather than just reporting the facts as they were disclosed by the CDC. One has to wonder why?
Things like:
"Over 95 percent of people living with HIV are not transmitting to someone else in a given year," said David R. Holtgrave, an expert on AIDS prevention at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. "What that says is the transmission rate has been kept very low by prevention efforts."
or perhaps, this little tidbit, that was included in your point #1's source, but left out of your blog:
"In 2006, 73 percent of new HIV infections were in men, 53 percent were acquired through homosexual intercourse, and 45 percent were in African Americans. The incidence rate -- the number of infections per 100,000 people -- was seven times higher in blacks and three times higher in Hispanics than in whites. It was highest in people in their 30s, although people younger than 30 accounted for nearly 34 percent of new infections. "
Could that be because it's OK to write a blog that says how horrible it is to be gay, and condemn homosexuality, but if you point out the fact that 43% of those who were infected with HIV were BLACK gays, then you might attract more anger and backlash? Or maybe you might have to address the cultural and social issues behind why those infection rates are so much higher among those particular men, such as the attitudes like this that lead to those men living a life on the "down low" and having anonymous, unsafe sex then going back to their female partners and spreading the disease even further?
I could respect an attempt to spread awareness of the AIDS epidemic, but using AIDS as an excuse to spread homophobia and bigotry is just inexcusable. (more) -

That is an absolutely beautiful philosophy that you have there on were pets go. I am stunned at how heart warming and... loving that post is. I can't imagine what it would be like to loose a pet and I have no doubt that it would be equal to loosing a best friend. I love the name, mama misty. Misty by Erroll Gardner is one of my favorite songs so I love the fact that her name is that. I am glad that she didn't suffer because there is a point, which came at about 15-16 for Sheba (my grans cat), that living just becomes painful and exhausting for the poor animals. Cats are beautiful animals and if I ever get one (which I will no matter what), I'd be sure to take in you philosophy of animals that have passed on, to give me comfort. :D
I find that sodahead is so great for... well, using your brain!! It is so easy to forget about issues that don't concern you and just live your life as it comes and I'm so glad that I go on this site because it really opens me up to the bigger issues that everyone should acknowledge and discuss. Plus, I get to meet great people like you that I would have otherwise never have been given the chance to talk to!

Not to suck up or anything but I really do feel privileged. It's very easy to sound like an idiot when surrounded by the opposition so I'm glad I'm not alone in my thoughts! I was actually going to add you just when you got me because I had noticed you around a lot as well!!
A tuxedo cat! Oh wow, you are so lucky! The only animals i ever had were pet snails.... and they ran away!
It's great that they are rescue cats as well and also that they are well behaved (which I'm assuming they are because they are still living with you!), I've heard that a lot of rescue cats can be erratically behaved because of their previous lifestyles...
25... 25!!! That is an amazing life! My grandmothers cat died at about 17 and that was very old, you must take fantastic care of your animals!
