Men have been promiscuous since time began - driven by nature to reproduce by impregnating as many women as possible. The idea of promiscuous women being deemed 'bad"; It all goes way back in time, women have the babies and the parenthood of the child carried with it inheritance of land, money and power. Hence, no man wanted his woman banging any other - he wanted his blood line secure (and women felt exactly the same way)
Today?? Some women see sleeping with many men as some sort of freedom and hence see this as a double standard. Not sure I agree but to each his own

I always refer to sexually adventurous women as, well, sexually adventurous. You have your Lewis and Clark women, your Indiana Jones women, etc. etc. :-)
