Would you work overtime for 2 weeks to get your daughter some cool shades and "hip" blue jeans ?

If any of my kids want clothes that cost that much they can a get a job and buy them themselves.

If I had a daughter, she would learn the value of work - she wants her shades and jeans, she can work and pay at least for half. Children can start doing little chores very young and this should continue, obviously I would always help and they wouldn't have to work too hard.

If I had kids, I might consider getting them something like that for their birthday or Christmas. But other than that they should do chores or get a part time job and save up their own money for stuff like that. That way they would learn to appreciate the value of money.

She should learn to work for her own 'accessories'.

I take exception to bdays and Christmas but in the everyday world she'd be the one working for them.

i put in 20 hours of overtime every week. been doing it for years now, and i dont even have kids

maybe she should be the one putting in the over time, that way she can appreciate the shades and pants more

If she wants those items, then she can work for them by doing extra chores around the house.

No, I would tell her to work and earn them herself..teaches a lesson about responsibility and spending your OWN money on things you want.

That's a big MAYBE. I'd prefer she got a job and bought her own. (if she's old enough).

I'm not a parent, but my mom wants us to earn what we get, and to appreciate what we have. She would not go buy us things like "hip" jeans or "shades". Let her work for what she wants, it won't hurt her any, didn't hurt me.

You've got to be kidding (and since this is under fun and humor. you must be)! Teach her to earn it for herself and/or teach her that 'cool' and 'hip' aren't important.

If she wants them then she'll have to work to pay for them. I would want to spend time with her. I would work to pay bills and put food on the table.

I don't have a daughter, but if I did, I'd tell her to find some part time job or do some chores so she could earn money to buy her own jeans and shades. When kids have to earn their own money to buy what they want, they quickly learn the value of a dollar.
