I walked in on a friend sniffing the night gown of a mutual female friend, he was embarrassed but said it was an innocent act.

    No. If you think it needs washing , just change and throw it in the washing machine! If you sniff for other reasons that is okay with the rest of the population. Just don't tell us about it.

    Since I am female I don't see myself sniffing a night gown but I have sniffed a man's shirt I was dating before. I also sniffed my dog's blanket occasionally for awhile after he died. It was comforting like he was still near.
    In the instance that you are speaking of I don't see anything wrong with it per se, but it does depend on if she would be comfortable with him doing that.

    Was she in the gown at the time? LOL

    I guess it depends on the relationship and how she might feel about him messing with her personal property like that.

    I haven't smelled a gown but my ex once mailed me a pair of her panties while I was working out of town and her scent was definitely a pleasant surprise.-)
