but it also depends because when i go to my sisters apartment she lives on the top floor and i would have to carry all my stuff up there but there has been a few times where when i went there i got to the top floor before the elevator did

I am a stairs person, people I am with think it's strange, I even climb up 10 or more flights of stairs instead of taking the elevator. I just couldn't stand it if the thing broke down and I was stuck in it for hours bored to death.
I've never been in a really tall building but I have climbed to the 17th floor of a hotel. It probably took nearly 10mins but I was in no hurry. I would probably risk an elevator to get to the top of a 40 floor plus building, as climbing the stairs would begin to get ridiculous.
It kind of depends. If I have a lot of things to carry, then I'd prefer the elevator. If it's just a few or if it's just myself then I'll take the stairs,
