I'll pkat this by season. Reading other posts, I'll take the basement (cellar) for coolness in summer, the attic for views in fall and spring breezes. Finish the basement and damp/flood proof it for a gun room. The attic will be set up for a studio or office.

I live in "Tornado Alley". Choosing the attic would be a death wish, besides I prefer the dark coolness of a basement over the light warmth of an attic anyway.

I lived in an attic apt. in an old home shower,sink,stove,toilet etc... I loved the vantage point it was a poor mans penthouse.The windows were from the floor up in all four corners from my bed I could see up and down both sides of the street but nobody could see in because it was so high up.

If it was all done and looking pretty. I get a bad feeling in basements. Like the weight of the whole house is one me and the air is dense :/ I only go down there to get stuff out of the freezer and to store stuff.
