Would you rather hang out with an atheist or with a Satanist? Why?

Satanism is essentially worship of oneself... and people who worship themselves tend to be too self-involved.

In all honesty though, I couldn't care less about anyone's religion or lack-there-of as long as they're not preach and self-righteous.

Without the Bible people wouldn't know who Satan was.

    Atheists are miserable people.

Satan is not real but those who think he is and actually worship him are mental. They think doing things like killing animals make Satan like them better. They are creepy and delusional.

Being a believer, I can't see myself "hanging out" with either an atheist or a Satanist. I don't think we would have much in common to make a relationship of any kind very enjoyable for either of us.

Having debated many atheists and "pageans" on this site, I have found it a waste of my time to try to discuss anything intelligently with them, because they have been disrespectful and intollerant. I don't have any use for people like that in my life. They all seem to have knowledge of the Bible and Jesus Christ, and have chosen to reject them. If someone were really lost and open to hearing about Christianity and salvation, I would certainly witness to them, but if they already know and just want to attack my beliefs or try to convert me to their beliefs, I'm not going to waste my time.

Is talking about Jesus all you do when you hang out? What if someone just wanted to go sing karaoke with you?

I don't sing karaoke. I have found that non-Christians are often more motivated to "convert" others to their way of thinking than Christians are today. Christianity has pretty much been spread to all corners of the earth, and I am not particularly into evangelism or pushing my beliefs on others. If they were interested in any of the things I am and were not trying to debate, I could get along with them. However those who have knowledge of the Bible and have rejected it are not likely to enjoy the same things I do, or be interested in hanging out with me!

I'm an atheist with knowledge of the Bible, and I can guarantee you that almost never comes up unless someone directly asks me about it.

And I thought it rather obvious that karaoke was an example. Pick something else, then. Bowling. Fishing. Watching TV. What does faith in Jesus have to do with any of those things?
  • Boo Illjwamh 2012/08/24 15:27:44

When one is a Christian, Jesus has to do with everything in their life. Certainly I could go bowling, fishing, etc. with an atheist, and enjoy the activity as I would with another Christian; however, conversation is always a part of these activities, and that where the problems always crop up. The question said "hang out." To me that means maybe doing nothing except talking. I prefer to hang out with my friends and those with whom I share things in common.

I have a feeling you wouldn't be hanging out with them for very long.

As an example, try to picture hanging out with someone who kept trying to tell you how awesome alligator sex is.

I don't really care what people do or do not believe in. I hang out with people I enjoy spending time with and that time is not spent discussing their ideology. :-)

Conversation and debate with atheists is ALWAYS both typical and simple. At least maybe conversation with a Satanist would have some kind of confounding or thought provoking nature. Atheists are all the same. Dime a dozen. And all allowed their psyches to be easily manipulated into believing what they believe, and almost always by the same means.

NO, I mean like PEOPLE. Just more pessimistic, cynical and condescending, those atheists. At least, in most cases, there is a point to what "Christians" believe. Although many of them have NO idea how they got to where they are philosophically and theologically. Which is equally annoying. I basically can agree with just about anyone who can admit that there is a power MUCH greater than themselves that we should all be thankful to. If you don't like that, then so be it.
