Would you rather allow your children to be exposed to violence or sex? By exposed I mean TV, Video Games, Movies, or even their friends.

I don't like the sexualizing of children, which is happening way too often, and if you are able to explain that what is on TV is fake, they are able to separate reality from pretend. I feel that it actually makes them better acclimated to the world. My daughter does not need to see naked asses to be a better person. But separating what she sees on TV with what she sees in reality does.

We just overseers, can't tell them as they going ahead at jet speed, if all fine will miss all the bads/ if un lucky will inherit all. It's all in their own mind no one can change it. We just to tell. They may return back in same speed.

That's a hard question. If we lived in a perfect world where sex and violence weren't overly glamorized everywhere, then I would have no problem with exposing them to either. However, they would probably be exposed to both whether or not I wanted them to.

Violence cause It's fake. I have been exposed to violence my whole life (I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was 4 and it went downhill from there) and I'm not a serial killer or anything.

I will agree with Ben, the first time I saw porn was when I was 10 and it was terrifying to me. Not suitable for kids, neither are sex scenes. Kids don't understand them.

Yes, the sex scenes are fake, but it still takes away all innocence and it's not something to show to a child.

Sex is natural, and, in the right context, a great thing. Violence, except in defense of self and others, is wrong.

So... violence in the right context, is a great thing too. Defending self and others IS a great thing. Heroic, even.

But most games don't emphasis that, and of the two, sex is much less likely to cause harm than violence.

They don't need to grow up knowing about these. I'm not saying I'll never expose them, but they shouldn't be exposed without being told explicitly what is wrong and what is right. So if anything, I'll expose them only to teaches them right from wrong until they have a full grasp of it.

I always wondered this growing up. Why do many parents let their children watch scenes of violence but cover their eyes during a sex scene? I think I understand it now, being a parent myself. Children learn to play rough with each other and see violence all the time when they wrestle or reinact a scene from a movie. It helps them to build motor skills and to learn how the human body works. But, when it comes to sex, it matures them too quickly. You only live your life once as a child. As soon as you are exposed to sex, the innocence of childhood is taken away. As a father, I do not want my child to even have to worry about what sex is until he is a teenager. Until then, we are going to keep bashing each other with foam weapons because its fun and hes learning.

No, however I seen how kids acted with my own 2 eyes, and even heard stories about how they acted. Being exposed to trash like violence, sex, and nudity is not a good thing. The best thing to is talk to them to not do those things, and to only have sex when they are married. I'm not married but I have 2 God kids, but I know what I'm talking about.

And when I say this I categorize rape as violence, that just happens to involve the sexual organs. Consensual sex is at least meant to be good for both parties.

Sex didn't used to be hidden from children. Sex education came from the simple fact that the house was too small for mommy and daddy to go anywhere else to do it.

Yes, things are different now, but sex is a natural human act.. using your hand to rip someone elses intestines out is not..

It depends on the level. In my honest opinion though sex forces a child to grow up faster and lose their innocence. Mild violence, however, teaches them that some things can hurt without them needing to become hurt in the first place. I'd rather my children have a long childhood, but understand the concepts of pain, death and loss.

In countries like Norway, where the crime rate is 0.68 (compared to America's 4.8), pornography is practically kiddie stuff. The people are more open about sex and less open about death and religion. That religion thing may also be a key factor...

Sex isn't a bad thing. People make it out to be a bad thing. I'm not saying you should tie the kid to a chair and make them watch hardcore porn, but educate them in it, let them know it's part of life, let them know it's more appropriate to do it when they are fully mature, etc.

Considering that Mario stomping on a Goomba is violence, and that you can make a pretty damn good game or movie without having to go into ultraviolence territory, we are constantly exposed to low level, acceptable violence in our media anyway.

Whereas sex scenes are almost always either poorly executed or trying to be crass outright.

If my immature little pals saw sex as an act of nature rather than an opportunity to make jokes about porn, then my life would be a lot better.

Kids see violence everyday. They understand it from an early age. They do not learn of sex until teens... and they should not learn of sex until they can understand the value of love, intimacy and relationships.
