Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale... in cushy seats on Broadway.
Gilligan's Island may soon be coming to the Great White Way, according to Deadline.com. Producer Dianne Fraser has acquired the rights to Gilligan's Island: The Musical, based on the classic 1960s sitcom. The book was written by series creator Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd, with his daughter Hope and her husband Laurence Juber providing the score.
Who should be cast in the Gilligan's Island movie?
The Skipper, Gilligan, The Howells, Ginger, the professor and
Maryanne are all expected to be part of the show, but the musical
introduces a new story even more bizarre than that time the Harlem
Globetrotters showed up on the island: The shipwrecked crew encounters
an alien.
Though Schwartz passed away last year, the musical had already been
tested across the country. The plan is to bring the show to Broadway by
2013 or 2014, pending proper funding.
