They may be used to being caged, but then so were many jews in mainlalnd europe 70 years ago. Extreme example, but acclimatising to something doesn't make it right.
Personally i have cats, they come and go as the please, when they're here we feed and shelter them, if they want us to, we play with them. And have dogs, they have free run of the house and garden, I'd never dream of shutting any of them inside, let alone caging them.
Just a personal thing, i don't like caging animals.

Well you think a Dog or Cat would like being caged either? It's not like they are in there cage 24/7.... They are in there cage maybe 2 hours.. when i have school then 3.... They are raised like that they are use to it... And the 2 hours or 3 that they are in there cage they are sleeping and if you know about hedgehogs at all they like there cage.. Are you an experienced owner? I dont think so....

not experienced with hedgehogs, but while the may like a den, logic would dictate they don't like a cage.
as for time caged? well, i don't know about there, but here a 15 year old in school, that'd be about 09:00 - 15:00at school, plus travel time. I assume you lock it up at night too, seeing as unlike the hedgehog you're not nocturnal. let's assume you get as much sleep as i do, and you cage it immedietely prior to passing out, and the instant you wake up, that's 5 hours. totals to 11 hours a day, 5 days a week. Now if you factor in healthy sleeping time, that's up to 14 hours, and let's assume total 1 hour travel time, 15 hours a day caged.
9 hours freedom? 62.5% of it's life confined? that sort of behaviour is passable with Fish, but hedgehogs aren't domesticated. Cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. have spent hundreds or thousands of years being selectively bred for domestication and captivity, and moral owners don't confine them. Hedgehogs instincts are still those of a wild animal. There's the possibility that the hedgehog may be used to captivity, in the same way a prisoner is, but it's not programmed to accept it, and doesn't understand why it's there.
I'm not saying that it's morally wrong or anything, just that a logical analysis of the known facts would indicate that it's not right.

What are you thanking me for?
My analysis of the free time was made solely of the information I was given.
A lot of your post makes little sense; your opening statement indicates I said they don't like to den, the opposite of what I said. The expression being that the first criteria is a fact, the second being some kind of extension, such as they don't like another thing.
You continue to say "You are not going to tell me how to raise my hedgehogs", an unnecessary statement of fact that is known to all participants in the conversation. I've never expressed a desire to impact your activities, online stated that from my moderate experience with animals, and extensive reading and documentary viewing, I believe a hedgehog shouldn't be caged, nor should any other animal (Except in instances when it's in the animals best interest, such as when recovering from injury).
Their freedom during your time at educational institutions, there has been no indication of this before. You’re criticising me for not knowing something I have no reason to know, and consequently making an assumption without it. The same for the being contained at night, here any pet should be, we have foxes, owls, badgers etc. that get pretty crafty, and get into enclosed gardens, cages, rabbit hutches, chicken coops etc.,...

The same for the being contained at night, here any pet should be, we have foxes, owls, badgers etc. that get pretty crafty, and get into enclosed gardens, cages, rabbit hutches, chicken coops etc., therefore logic dictates that if you cared about them as much as you seem to, you’d protect them. Perhaps you don’t. (Have predators that is, not that you don’t care about them.)
On that note, I shall reiterate. While an animal may acclimatize to captivity, it takes many generations of selective breeding for them to accept domestication, as dogs do. There’s a difference between acclimatisation, and domestication. Acclimatising is learning to tolerate, for example my watch is uncomfortable to wear, but after a few minutes I get used to it, and stop noticing it. A traditional example is sheep in a field, they run from the cars that pass, but after a while they get used to it, and stop reacting to them. Alternatively an elephant chained to a stake from birth will learn it can’t escape, so even after several years when it’s grown stronger and heavier, and could easily break away, it doesn’t try to. You see the same with Prisoners of war, after several months of being held captive, if no escape attempt is successful they break, and give up.
Cage a hedgehog for a sufficient time (with a hedgehog life span, probably during its development to adulthood, or if its already an adult, several months) and it’ll accept that there’s nothing it can do, and stop struggling or trying to escape. It’s acclimatised, this doesn’t mean that it likes it.
Well, that’s more then I meant to write.

So you refuse to attempt to justify your actions, or explain why you believe it's fine to cage them, but plan to continue treating them how you do, essentially saying "i'm going to continue misstreating small animals."

Hmm, i think this is the moral high ground... Mixed with some less then savoury debate techniques, such as trying to goad you into a response... but aside from that it's nicer here then i thought. I'll have to come here again some time.
