i would but only under some circumstances like if the lady had kids or if it was vary hot outside but id never put someone in my car....(if i had one yet) lol only if i had a truck.... (ride in the back bitches! )

I picked up some hippies who were trying to meet up with a group following the band, Phish. Being a hardcore raver back then, I decided to pick them up. We went back to my house and I made them som sandwiches and some extra lunches to take with them. They then called a friend who lived nearby to pick them up from there. I felt I had nothing to worry about. They were just some kids doing some road surfing.

Only picked up two elderly people who had ran out of gas in the winter time. I couldn't leave them stranded in their car...I figured if they pulled anything funny...I could take 'em....
They were so greatful and I would hope someone would do the same and help out my folks if they needed it.

I have never picked up anyone, per say, but I have stopped for a few people that were stranded and offered to let them use my phone to call for help. Those times were during major snow storms where people were gliding off the road on roads not heavily patrolled.

I identify with that lifestyle we have to interact for our own survival sometimes.I don't think there are more dangerous hitchers than before.I rather think it's because in less than a millisecond you know about crime etc... In real time throughout the world,so maybe it just seems worse today.Perhaps or because you know more about it and more of it now,than we once did??

No I think crime is more prevalent now, people are less connected to each other. A lot of people don't even know their neighbors, and people don't really stop to help others that are in need, they don't want to get involved. It gives crime more opportunity.

A couple times while on surf trips I've picked up other surfers hitching rides up and down the coast.

I picked up a guy who was surfing and traveling Baja, California, and Oregon about 10 years ago. It just so happens he was an awesome shaper and actually has worked for me for the last 8 years.
