I used to do it as a kid, whenever one of my siblings did something wrong by accident they were terrified of getting found out. So when my mom or step father asked "Who did it?" and I saw one of them look scared I took the blame. Now before this sounds all noble to you, my mother and stepfather weren't evil parents, we were just terrified of punishment.

if it was a good reason. i dont really have any examples, because good reasons could look bad at first, just as bad reasons could look good at first. it all depends on the time and place and people involved i suppose

I can't imagine doing so. But I've heard of people being abused until they confess. They will say anything to make it stop. I hope I'm never in that situation. Don't know how I'd do then?

years aqgo I did it to keep peace !! In elementary school THOSE NUNS WOULD GIVE ME HELL !! I DID IT TO KEEP PEACE !! When I used to visit my aunt (mothers' sister) I did it to have a vacation away from my mother & stepfather and visit my grandmother !! NEVER AGAIN.........EVER !!

yes, in my case I'm the oldest of my two siblings and sometimes be the biggest give you some greater understanding and also more esponsibility, so sometimes take that responsibility if anything happened, besides being most had more skills to defend myself and leave the problem ....... lol

Half the time, it's quicker and faster to say, "I did it." Rather than someone else get the blame...especially if I believe that the consequences would be too high a price to pay.

Secondly I believe it shows strong character to be able to take the blame, even if you didn't do something as nine times out of ten you would be doing it for a friend or a colleague.

Those who never take the blame are cowards through and through. Yet there's a fine line of taking the blame because of the cost benefit analysis and taking the blame because you're a pacifist, which is pointless, hurts society and yourself. Then there's masochism... >_>

Still, I know that I'm strong enough emotionally and physically to shoulder the burdens and the consequences of others. To me that's what living in a community is all about. Taking responsibility collectively.
