- Nan 2012/06/28 02:16:30Yes+1Sure, sounds easy enough to do and like Clara said, it's healthy and good for you. People back then were very smart when it came to eating frugally.reply
- Kashee 2012/06/26 23:47:10Yes+1I would eat those foods. Can't make dandelion salad here because there are no dandelions. I eat eggplant, I eat couscous and the apples, not because of cost, but because I like them.reply
- Jan Haskell 2012/06/26 22:36:18Yes+1I lived with my grandma for a lot of my childhood, and she still used some of those recipes ... delicious! She had the most popular kitchen in the neighborhood :)reply

- Joe61 2012/06/22 07:42:34Yes+1Back then you would have been more likely to have your meals cooked and eaten at home as a rule. Fast junk food wasn't as readily available. I cook and eat my own food as it was part of my growing up. Mother did no go to work and relied on Dad earning enough to keep the family fed and housed adequately. Sundays where special and it was the tradional roast beef dinner and for the rest of the week it was cheap and wholesome food. Friday's where the exception as Friday was pay day for Dad and was fish and chip dinner from the local fish and chip shop. Friday evenings my siblings and I used to hate being deligated to go down to the chip shop. Because there was always a huge que and had to wait ages to get served. That was only going back to the early 1960s.
