Would you die for your country?

Maybe if my country actually did what it boasts about doing. I wouldn't die for any of our leaders, unless they were willing to fight along by my side and not sit in an office and look down upon the less fortunate. Why can't our leaders now days be more like our founding-fathers, just less racist?

What good are you to your country dead?

I feel very strongly for my country. I don't think dying for it would do anything. If I felt it would really have an impact, then maybe. Unfortunately, as that isn't the case, I'm not so sure right now. I don't think there should be a situation where a person needs to lay down their life for their country, but if I really felt my country could use it, then I'd like to think that I would. Of course, I'd rather stay alive if I could ;)

If this was the US of decades ago, then I probably would. Nowadays I don't think I need to shed blood so the rich can get richer and the powerful can retain their power. Besides, the wars we wage have nothing to do with dying for my country. When was the last time we actually were protecting anything but the interests of our elite? I support our troops who are out there doing their job, but I do not support why they are there.

I lean toward "no" but it would depend on the situation. Maybe if I was dying protecting the country from some incredibly evil force...

Can't see myself doing that. I'm not nationalistic. I don't hate other countries, I love people. No matter where they are from.

I dont own a country so am hardly likely to die defending one

In a real war to defend our country I would, and by that I mean another country invading us but not a war that was about securing oil or some other resource and being played off like it was "defending all that is good and just in our world".

It depends on what you mean by "country."

If I had to defend my country YES! if it's some BS like Iraq and Afganistan. Not on your life. Why defend people who hate me and want to see me dead? Why defend a nation who only want our money?

Maybe depends on the cause im fighting for, I would prefer to live though.

I think there's something admirable about soldiers and people who risk their lives for others but I'd be lying if I said I was that selfless.

Hello no, I wouldn't, because that would essentially be dying for the government and I don't love the government that much, not even close.

The are no more sovereign countries anymore kids. It's all one big global cesspool of waste, disguised as a civilization. The psychopaths are in control of the asylum.

Give them hope with new medicines, that only prolong illness; take away the hope and the cure. Separate their families at the strongest point, their head-of-households, yet leave the children; it's weakest point intact. Perform miracles with new science, so that they believe you are Gods; let them be demigods for the ultimate price. Above all, this last task, make the truth so unbearable, so horrific,so disingenuous; that they would rather live the lie.

My country was stolen from me 30 years ago. But yes, I'd die if it meant getting it back for my grandkids.

I see why they might feel that way when all our Government seems to care about right now is redistributing income and killing the American dream. Our country is far from perfect and seems to get farther away all the time. I just can't see any place better yet. If our Government keeps pushing us in the wrong direction, I can see a lot more people feeling this way.
