We used to live in a mobil home when we were first married, 14x68 single wide 2 bedroom and 13/4 bath. Total cost for home, water, gas electric and phone $225.00 month. Now have a 2000sq Ft home on 1/4 acre with mountain views 4 car garage and a payment for all of the above $2850 per month. I figure even with inflation we could save at least $1800. month. Sounds good to me

NO WAY would I move to a mobil home

Mobile homes, prefabs or modular lose value over time, they are more expensive for long term upkeep with building materials wearing down faster, the resale value on them is the pits and a person in some areas of this country would have to be either very brave or very crazy to want to live in one of those during storms like hurricanes or tornadoes. Even if you put them on a permanent foundation they are still not built to last and less safe than other forms of housing.

The prices of all homes are down due to the economy. If the economy rebounds homes and land value will increase, the value of a mobile home decreases even when the economy is in good shape.

I had a friend who lived in one it was real nice. Some of them are nicer then some homes I've seen. I could not a problem if you own it then it's your's

Well the first photograph looks like it could be in British Columbia but I'm not exactly sure where it is, it's beautiful though and the second is in Italy.

It depends on your income; if you're just making payments, have to be a scrooge with utilities, close off part of your house, and have just enough money for food, I'd say go to a mobil home. If you have a few thousand left over each month and don't plan on any big purchases soon, then why give up the good life?

We did not live in a safe part of town and it was behind a gas station near the railroad. Miracle Mile Was a hooker hangout too.

Along the Gulf Coast .. in a Hurricane Zone ..
I'll stick with my site-built custom home ..
(besides .. it is paid for .. all mine) ..

Now there's some nice mobile homes on the marketplace for areas outside of the Hurricane Zones ..
that could be a possibility ..
if I ever decide to leave the home I now enjoy as MINE!

I live in Central Florida, I wouldn't feel safe in a mobile home, I have been through a few hurricanes and have witnessed the aftermath firsthand. Unless you have seen an obliterated mobile home, then you may not appreciate where I am coming from, it is a pretty horrific sight.

I am lucky to live in a house with a basement, which is not common in this area and I think I will stay here.

I live in a mobile home because that's all I can afford. But I won it and the land it's on. I don't owe a thing for it, except those dang taxes that they keep raising way too high.
