I had this conversation with my dad years ago, and his reply was a long and very telling silence before he stated "No." I didn't bother me at all, though if my siblings knew they might have taken it hard.
I dislike kids

Not in my case. My father was blunt and to the point; he never used analogies to describe what he meant. Oh, well, no one said I get everything in life.

I think it's the most important decision adults can make when they decide to have children. They better think it through so they'll never even think of saying such a horrendous thing to their children.

True, but too many don't have a realistic idea of how much work goes into being a parent, and when reality hits them, it seems like buyer's remorse to me. It isn't the kid's fault of course.

it might bother me a little beacus my mom was always ther for me so itd be sad. but if my father had said it I wouldn't be botherd I dont like him either he basicaly said that when I was born

Well, I don't know about other folks to be honest, but my dad did mean it. I just expected to be hurt more and was surprised that I wasn't.

sorry for that...but when my mother say so: "i wish i don't have kids' or something like that ..she doesn't say it except if she was angry..and you can't take the words of angry persons seriously.thats my opinion .

ok..but i don't think that any father would regrat having kids ..maybe he meant it maybe you are right..but you know..if you become a mother yorself some day..you will make ecxuses for them...because you will be in their place..i am not a mother yet ...not married yet..but i can imagine my self angry at my kids and say so.

I did by the time I was in my early 20s and began to see them as separate individuals and not just parents. When I learned to do that, it was easier to understand them on their level.
