Denny's worst service and worst food I've ever had.

If it weren't for alcoholics, these places would go out of business.

The Aweful Waffle! Some people in Atlanta think those are houses of worship.

There's so much starch in that place, blue jeans could stand up by themselves.

I had a steak there last week that tasted like they got it from the Dumpster at Denny's. I will never return to Applebees. It was so gross, I literally almost threw up after going there.

Carrows Restaurant is as bad or even worse then Applebee's, if that is possible.

We just got one of those in our town. I have not been tempted to go.

Do you guys also have a Carrows?

Never heard of it, so I don't think it has made it's way here yet.

LOL-well I am really not one to eat in these franchise type places. I like little independent restaurants and cafes and will even seek them out when I am travelling.

Yes, very smart. Here are a few jewels i have stumbled upon while searching out new places to dine.

I have a new favourite in town. There is a little house that has been converted into a cafe/bakery and they have lovely lunches. The owners are what could best be described as Jewish hippies. I love them. They are so sweet. The interior is all done by them or by friends and it is carved wood, dried flowers or sea shell arrangements are set into the wooden tables and covered in a thick and protective layer of shellac. There is an indoor fountain and tile work and macrame hangings and plants. It is just so lovely and I would go more often if I could afford to eat out regularly. They have the most delicious soups and salads and they make their bread. Their carrot cake is the best I've ever had.

There was this one place my partner and I loved. We would go there on our anniversaries. The outside of the building almost looked condemned. You could walk right past it almost. They are closed now. Very sad. They where always open on odd hours and sometimes closed for a few weeks. Run by a rich German family. It was an old German restaurant. The whole place looked like an underground cave with old world german gothic style. Here is the link to some pics they have of it. I think you might really like it. It's not hippy, but i think you will appreciate it. Keep in mind the flash photography strips away all the disney magic. It was a very dark place with great mood lighting. You felt like you where on a movie set. It was amazing.

Food was also cheap and affordable if you could get in!

It looks like the kind of place I like. I like atmosphere and this place has it!

KFC I work with food so am very careful and observant about cleanliness of workers. I have noticed more than once people touching the food while preparing it. No gloves or face mask. Nasty, I guess that is why they combined with TacoHell :?)

Texas Roadhouse. I like to go out on the weekend. This is one place I avoid due to it's popularity at this time. Therefore I don't go anymore. Long wait. Salads if its not common.long wait. When food comes smaller portions [weekend] long wait. usually overcooked or cold. [weekend] Never the same person waiting on you. But all show up at tip time. Things should be better for a corporate store.

if you're looking for a place to dine in south lansing that requires an hour and 1/2 to wait for a table, than this is the place. the waitress hassled us about our large group. Demanded to know who was paying at the end. We ended up with watered down drinks, flat draft beer and had a substantial case of food poisoning the next day.

Oh too bad for you. I often do secret shops on my local Roadhouse. They pay me to catch problems before other customers can be upset just like you are now. So Sorry, be sure to contact the manager and mention you will call corporate. Better service will start and you may get a free meal. Good luck..

A fool and his money soon go seperate ways. that wasthe last straw . I'm nobody's fool.Why should bend over backwards for a restaurant to make a buck? Outback is right around the corner.

One woman writes: Several years ago I was in Puyallup, WA for a trade show. Ate at Boston Market Saturday night, chicken pot pie with a side of mac and cheese.

Woke up around 2am...it was dark, I was disoriented and confused...what city am I in and what is the layout of this hotel room were my first thoughts. I did make it to the bathroom - barely - and stayed there the rest of the night.

I haven't experienced all of these American chains but I don't like Denny's
