Sounds great my friend........OBTW........Didn't you tell me you had a Chevy Duramax?.......How do you like it?

Yes, I do have one in my Silverado. I like mine just fine. It's a good pulling engine and the fuel mileage isn't bad either for what the truck is. The one thing I'll caution you on though my friend is the injectors. Depending on how that Duramax is set up you will get anywhere from 80,000 to 120,000 miles and then they will need to be changed and I can tell you they're not cheap. To do a full injector change will set you back around $5000.00. At least for the earlier Duramax engines. I don't know what the later versions are getting. If you're looking into buying a used truck with a Duramax in it then I'd check the miles on it and then ask the owner if an injector change has been done on it.

Brian, I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with the Duramax/Allison.....I only have 32,000 on it.......My friend had a 2003 and he put 300,000 miles on it with no engine or injector problems....I Love my truck...it gets 20 MPH on trips...drops off a little when I pull a trailer..... 2006 Chevy Durama 2500 HD Silver

Good deal! I'm surprised your friend was able to get 300,000 on a set of injectors. That's fantastic! My best tank of fuel was 23.9mpg but if I keep it on the highway I can average around 21-22 which I think is fantastic for what I'm driving. I really like the trucks though. They're good trucks and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. 2004 silverado dually This truck here looks virtually identical to my truck when I first got it. I've since changed out the nerf bars for the longer ones that go all the way to the bed and I put on a grill guard on it. Other than that this one looks pretty much like mine. Even has the same color blue.

Nice looking truck Brian....Boy do they have the power......you know Duramax makes the diesel engine for the M1 Abrams Tank....The best truck I've ever owned......I use it to haul my Deeres when I sell one and have to deliver it.....don't even know the trailer is back there.....I see you have the 3500 dually.....now that's a hawg....lol !!

Many thanks my friend. Yeah, ole Blue is a fine looking ride for sure. Didn't know the M1's were using them though. That is soooo cool! I know when I was hauling RV's last year the only way I could tell they were back there was when I would hit a bump or when I looked at my fuel gauge. Other than that, I've discovered if I can hook to it then I can pretty much haul it. Yeah, I wanted the dually because it put a little extra rubber to the road and gave me a more stable foot print for hauling them along with the extra traction. All in all it's a nice ride.

The dually gives you more weight and displacement.....more control....especially when you're stopping...although that Allison does a great job breaking.....yeah when you're towing you well know by the fuel gauge that's for sure......but those horses gotta have oats you know? lol.......

Yeah man. And that's why I put in a 110 gal. aux. tank in the back of the truck. I found I could buy my fuel heap cheap in Indiana and I could go pretty much anywhere I wanted on 1 full tank load. It's funny really as I've got a total of 146 gals of fuel capacity. Almost as much as my boss's semi. He's got a Peterbuilt that holds 150 gal. of fuel.

My 2500 only has a 20 gal. tank.
Now that's a lot of fuel.......what does it costs you to fill'er up? Mmmmm 146 times $4.00, now that's a chunk of change...about $600.00 bucks huh?...I shipped a package by UPS a couple of weeks ago and I noticed in their shipping fees that add a fuel surcharge...$1.35......

Most of the time when I fueled up(my tanks were never completely empty) I would spend upwards of about $475.00. Yeah, to fill up ole Blue is a tall order for sure. Since I've not been hauling RV's and I've just been driving back and forth to work then I'll normally just stick in about $100.00 and I can go a couple weeks on that with no problems. I know when I was hauling RV's my actual pay was .70 per loaded mile +.65 for a fuel surcharge.

Hey there Deere Guy. Yeah the money was pretty good as far as being loaded and rolling but when I was coming back and I was empty then the money was coming out of my pocket so I almost broke even. That's why I got out of the business. I "did" talk to my brother today and he told me about a company that is out of MI. that does auto transport. They haul those 3 axle trailers that will hold like 3 cars for transport. I'll be calling them probably tomorrow to see what's happening there and maybe see about hiring on with them. Ole Blue is all set up for pulling duties so all I have to do is get him inspected and get my corporate insurance and I should be ready to go.

Oh yes. Yeah that's one of the things I didn't do when I was hauling RV's. I didn't hustle to see if I could find a back haul so that one was all my fault.

Like anything else, it all about justifying and absorbing the cost....with fuel being so high, I'm surprised things like food don't cost more than it does......my dad was a long distance truck driver in the 60's...but he wasn't a wild catter, he worked for companies......his last driving years, he hauled liquid propane.....those huge white blimps lol...
