I live on the beach. South Carolina. This time of year the water is amazingly warm. The weather is hot. So, I go swimming a couple of times a day. Early in the morning and then later in the evening. Sometimes, I swim out kind of far. Am I crazy. Will I get Shark bit? Would you do what I do?

The problem is that people hand feed sharks and that can cause a problem to think people having food. Sharks hunt by eye sight and check things out with their mouth. So a shark can bite your arm or leg off to find out if you are not a seal or sea lion. And swim off. thats why people dont get killed by sharks but just get bitten. over 100 people get attacked by sharks a year and only 5-10 die. I mean the best way to not get bitten is avoid the ocean when it gets real ruff and the sky gets overcast. And also dont make huge splashes when seeing a shark. punsh a shark in the nose to escape. even close to shore there are sharks that can bite the back of your foot off but I wont be worried about that too much. The safest thing is wear a chain swim suit or have a magnet which drives all but great whites away. great whites need much stronger magnets. If you scuba dive, i would have a camara to bump sharks away. Oh and at night you think is safe, nope Sharks are attive at night also. And I would never swim alone by the way. There are also other sea animals that aren't safe like Sting rays, and jelly fish.reply

American Nate. You are so correct. Miami? yeah, you get my question. Although, I've knew a person once who lived near the beach in Miami and that person never went to the beach. They didn't care for it. Imagine that. I figure I don't leave that big a profile. Sometimes, I get a bit spooked if there happens to be a surf-caster nearby. Otherwise, I swim with the tide. The jellyfish do frighten me more than the sharks. Little boogers. They wash up everywhere in the winter- I'm not swimming then thank goodness, lol. And Sting rays and other sea animals.. it makes one stop and think. I do have a bad habit of swimming alone, even at odd hours. Your comments should make all really stop and think about the fact that nature is an amazing dynamic. Whatever the environment, we should go in knowing the risks as well as the rewards. +1yea when I saw your question, i just watched shark week. i mean i was never afraid of sharks cause its so rear, only 5 ppl die a year. but they dont tell you the facts of ppl getting attacked. Its pretty wild how they confuse you thinking sharks attack every time they see human but a fun fact is, seal island that has billions of great white sharks around it which is just less than a mile away from a very popular beach with surfers. only 1 recorded attack at that beach's history and it was just a couple years ago. sharks dont really care for human but when they wounder close to the beach to look for easy catches, ppl get in the way, and they bite to see who it is.reply -
