Will Bill Cowher Coach in 2012?

Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher says he plans to stay off the sidelines. Dont' tell the NFL that, as the Miami Dolphins (who just fired head coach Tony Sparano), Kansas City Chiefs (fired Todd Haley), Jacksonville Jaguars (fired Jack Del Rio), among other teams are set to make a run at Cowher's services -- assuming they haven't already. Though, one NFL legend and colleague of Cowher believes he won't be coaching in 2012.

“I would love to see him be the Dolphins coach or if he wanted to coach again because it would be great for the NFL, but I don’t think his mindset is that he wants to coach again,” said former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino to Dolphins.com, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The Dolphins have been inconsistent since Marino's retirement before the 2000 season, having flashes of success one season, only for it to disappear the next. Cowher would not only change the Dolphins locker room to a winning culture, but also bring the proven ability to mentor a quarterback for the team's future. He mentored and developed successful NFL quarterbacks like Kordell Stewart and Ben Roethlisberger during his Pittsburgh tenure.

“He may change that over time now, but my feeling is that, you know, he’s a pretty straightforward . . . guy that tells the — kind of — the truth most of the time," Marino said. "I would say — or no, all the time — and he said on TV that he doesn’t have any plans of coming back, and I believe him.”

Cowher hasn't coached since 2006, stepping down from the Steelers head coaching position in January 2007 with an overall coach record of 149–90–1, numerous playoff appearances, and one Super Bowl title in 2005. He has since served as an analyst for CBS' Sunday NFL coverage.

Sure as hell will be enough jobs to choose from if all the reports are true. Didn't he have kids growing up that caused him to leave Pitt that and his wife was close to passing.

Dallas doesn't need a new coach; Jason Garrett is doing just fine.

Yes that's true. They need a GM. More than a coach

Doubt it, he's a decent coach, but overrated IMO, Dick Lebeau is much more responsible for the Steelers success than he was.

I hate the guy and will always consider him a Steeler, but he's a good coach and money talks.

He looks pretty comfortable sitting at that table on CBS. Lets see....8 hrs a week talking about football while making the same he would coaching a team 90hrs a week.

I think if the right deal is offered, he'll be on the sidelines.

Coach Cowher is one of my favorite coaches ever. He's had some opportunities to come back to coaching since his retirement, and not to bad ball clubs either. He's had a few offers from good teams. And he has zero interest in giving up his analyst job. I don't blame him. Stay in the studio, make some money and enjoy life off the turf.

Cowher will not coach unless he has total control of the team. its personnel, and who is the GM.

I am not sure, but I will always treasure him as a championship coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bill Cowher Steelers Superbowl coach http://www.beaumontenterprise... It hurt me to my heart when he left the Steelers, and when his wife passed away. I think he set the tone for the attitude of the Steelers, not sure how he would have dealt with Harrison!
